Im looking for any advice or tips fro drying out a wet engine??

wtf is a wet engine I hear you say?

Well some dickhead (me!) decided that the flooded road in from of me wasn't that bad so decided to go through at a steady slow pace...
...yep you guessed it I came to a sudden stop with a few metres to go. I reckon the water had gone into the intake tubes.
Called out the hondacare and Waited in the pissing rain for 1.30hr to be told he couldn't do anything as that sounded water flooded, so after waiting another hour for recovery I got it home.

My lovely wife let me put it in the kitchen (no garage) and we have been stripping her down (slowly) since.
After much confusion and trial and error dismantling (how fecking hard is it to get to the plugs ffs)
we have siphoned water out of bell mouths and removed plugs and turned her over to spurt water out.

The question is? what is the best ways to completely dry her out before connecting up the gubbins and running her.
we have sprayed all bores, connecters and intakes with GT85 (house stinks)?

Any info GREATLY APPRECIATED I've been shitting a brick with panic thinking I've kanckered her with 3 yrs fin ace to go

Ps: im not deliberately trying to get numpty nominations each year I promise

This is what I would do.
Kill switch it so cannot start and turn her over. This should push all water out of the bores.Drain oil and change oil filter.Change air filter.Leave over night with everything drained.Fill up with fresh oil and again turn it over with kill switch so cannot start. This will put fresh oil where it should be.Then put it all back together and take it outside and start it.It will smoke a bit but should clear.Hope n pray for you.

    DON'T TRY START/TURN IT OVER!

I have seen cars come to a stop in puddles and suck water up the exhaust, the water then sits on top of the pistons then when the engine turns over it try's to compress the water (like hydrollics) what happens next is the con rods bend under the pressure!

Hope you fix it mate, if turning over maybe take plugs out to release pressure?

I think that's the cap for the fuel pipe connector, the quick release one tank end.

Good luck, no more advice other than what's been given.

Oh no what a nightmare! How deep was the water to get in the airbox intake? New oil / filter and dry out the air filter, don't forget to turn it over with plugs removed, don't realy want to turn it over with the oily water in her perhaps bump her rather than use the starter?

You can turn the engine over by putting it in gear and rotating the rear wheel. This shouldn't put undue stress on anything and you will feel any lockup before it does any damage.
Get the plugs out, drain it, replace oil, air and oil filter and then fill her up again. She should start up again then (assuming the electrics aren't drenched. If they are soak them in WD and leave a while before trying)

yep it does look like that, but I've got the cap over the fuel pipe connector, don't suppose anyone has a piccy under an abs rider seat.

Thanks to everyone for the info, so far we have
1 shredded our fingers due to inaccessible components
2 tried not to get really down

Done all the tips mentioned so far plus dried everything and coated in copius amounts of GT85, she is currently draining of oil in the kitchen.
I will get new oil and filter tomorrow, pray violently tonight and try and reassemble tomorrow after work?

    Zippy

Put down my beer and went and took this matey, hope it helps.

Just one thing buddy, is your eyesight OK? I measured the air intakes, they are 28" /72cm off the ground, are you sure it was a road and not a fecking river you were riding along?

Don't panic. It'll be fine, do as said for extra caution. Hopefully be all ok mate.

Oh and congratulations on the numpty award! :)

lol, the feckin water just swelled up so much, I adept stop as I was worried it would go up exhaust but i expect it just gushed into intakes!

Thanks for piccy yours looks like it may have a black cover in front of the abs servo and before the back of the tank that mine don't have.
piccy is a bit fuzzy but Ill take a look tomorrow and see if i can make it out.
Thanks for piccy it helps a lot mate :)
