I've got a PCV that has been sat in its box all winter. I want to have a go at fitting it myself. Anyone fit one? Pretty straight forward? I think I will run the Dynojet downloadable map for the Akrapovic first then take it to get dyno'd spring time ready for some track days
If it's anything like the 3, it really is simple, not sure how much wiring comes with the 5, but with the 3, it really was easy. Then off to a dyno to get it tuned right, I did mine then changed the can so I need to get it done again. But, cured the fuelling glitch outta the box, which was a relief! Instructions very good! Asuming they are still the same. Just takes time removing tank, bodywork etc, but rather do myself!!
easy enough, just remember to check for any firmware updates for the pc5 before you fit it, much easier to do it off the bike..
The only tricky part is fitting the connectors (3 for the PCV). Small hands are helpful! I didn't remove the tank, just raised it. Read the instructions and make sure you fit the TPS to the correct connector.
BTW, don't forget to fit the O2 sensor eliminator (under the LHS mid fairing) as that allows the PC to control fuelling at low revs.
2012/13 Blue plug right hand side of airbox for the tps I did it last week very easy I took the fuel tank off to make life easier
The MAP sensor has the same connection and looks the same so be careful not to connect the TPS connector to it. They are both on the right side but the TPS is hidden between the frame and throttle bodies.
Thanks for info! Dare I say it! "Got the wrong hole" but put it in the right one now thankfully didn't start the bike, don't know if it would have done damage?
Nothing wrong in crossing Biffin's bridge time to time! I connected it the MAP sensor (like a fecking noob), did the checks but connecting it to a PC the TPS didn't register, just stayed at the same voltage. Called Dynojet (respect to them as they are so helpful) and they instantly said I connected to the MAP sensor and told me to look a bit further round for the TPS, and behold they it was!!
hi guys ok a quick question got my bits from demon tweeks today fitted K&N filter no issues fitted O2 sensor no worries have routed pc5 as in video but going to connect tomorrow looked at instalation video on power commander.com 2009 Honda CBR 1000RR Power Commander V installation - YouTube looked straight forward plugging the 3 leads into the connectors. but the video then mentions connecting to the irc which is the connector attached to frame to the right of the air box, in my power commander box I do not have any connector to attach to this I am not adding any other unit just the power commander excuse my ignorance but am I missing something btw 2009 blade HRC many thanks Brian
Sorry It states if installing irc then connect to tps sensor I take it I'm not installing an irc and what is an irc ?? Cheers
this is the ignition retard controller /this will make your bike run leaner at 100% throttle, tps isthrottle position sensor
Depending on the model of pcv , you will have either the 3 or 5 connector harness. The 08-12 pcv has 3 connectors ( 2 injectors and subharness) . The 12+ pcv (also fits 08-12) has 5 connectors ( 4 injectors and tps). Neither has the requirement to connect to irc, I think this is a usa thing
Thanks chaps yes it's the 3 connector pc5 just thought I had better check before I connect Many thanks
Not at all a mechanic and did mine myself in approx 45mins and I didn't remove tank just wedged a bit of wood under it to keep it lifted up. Really straight forward and everything is correct length so hard to get wrong
Got the pc5 fitted can't believe how easy it was map downloaded and running sweet as a nut but will have to wait for a sunny dry day to test drive as typing this a gritter has just passed my window so looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer. A bit of advice to anyone thinking of buying a bike in the winter don't do it it's bloody killing me not being able to take her out especially after all the work I've done on her I just sit in the garage looking at her and getting myself depressed the wife thinks I've list the plot and need to grow up lol Cheers Brian
I know exactly how you guys feel. Fitted my RaceFit Black Edition same as Rosier (Brian), downloaded the PCV map onto it, started it (Sounds Great) ........................ Apart from that it's still in the garage. Unridden, Untested. Arghhhh
