thought id jump on this band wagon.

my blade drinks oil rather alot, checked it not so long ago and it was 'low'

you ask me it would be better if the fireblades had what the 600rr do. a see through part of the engine where you can see the level of oil instead of a dipstick as many factors have ot be taken into consideration. how long the engine has been running etc, how long you leave it after etc.

please keep us posted on what the dealers say, as I check my oil every time I go out now. exccessive but hell stops me from worrying

and yes remal check your oil again as scrweing it in will make a considerable difference

    lol.
I assumed you wouldn't screw back in, but when i checked mine this way and there was no oil i thought i had to screw it in. That was the shock when there was no sign of oil with it screwed in either.

Yeah, mine's got a level window. It does make life a lot easier as long as mrs ken's available to hold the bike upright while I check it. LOL.

    600ml in 3422 +miles. first service at 584miles. now done 4006

Agree, i know it does not bother many, but it does bother me. If you go with what Honda say and the bike does use 1 litre of oil for every 1,000 miles covered, then for the usual summer riders this may be ok when covering 2k a year, but what about potential owners like me who cover 10k a year ? If you add in the 4 litres of oil for the annual service then in a year i could put in 14 litres of oil..... do i need to go on.

    services are every 4k or yearly which ever comes first so 1l, 1l, 1l, 4l, 1l, 1l, 1l, 4l, 1l, 1l, so more like 16L a year for a 10k rider

Really? quibbling over a few litres of oil? come on guys - its not a massive expense is it..

And new oil is better than old oil so just think of it as helping the engine continually. :)

If ya think about it ... if you keep adding oil on a regular basis then there's no need to do an oil change .. :yes4:

Nuts? Have you been speaking to Mrs Ken?

That does smack of her thought processing.

^^ I think it makes actually perfect sense. So long as the filter is changed and its collecting all the crap why not? Or am i ignorant..?

After reading this alst night, i checked my oil and had to put 1.1 litres in! lol.
