Planning on 4 of us going to Mugello Moto Gp and camping is said to be the way to go. Just wondering is it true camping at the circuit is free? If so, what are the facilities like at the circuit? Or any suggestions on where to stay and whats the best way to do it ? Complete novice at this so really need some input please ! Thank you in advance.
Paul, You must camp at the circuit, yes it is free, take lots of earplugs - there are some showers - we used a solar shower hung off a tree for warm water to freshen up. Its only 2 nights and I know its a pain but otherwise you will miss out the whole Mugello atmosphere and reason for going. Watch this through to the end - in 2 trips we have made good friends with a group of Italian Sofa makers who go for their work summer party - free bar and me DJ'ing off my Blackberrry for a couple of hours - Hence Proclaimers and Big Country blasting out. https://vimeo.com/46077915 Have been twice, once by bike and once by air. On bike had a hotel and was gutted as we left the circuit realising what we were going to miss. With air we took small tents but had hotel on the Sunday night near Bologna airport before flight home. You could buy tent and sleeping bag at supermarket in Italy and just leave them there. Ventura luggage makes it easy with blade - tent, roll mat and sleeping bag on on back section stacked up behind the main bag. Ask away any questions and will help as much as I can

Thank you for your help, yes, camping at the circuit seems the way To go. Planing on leaving Tuesday late afternoon, getting to about Lille for the evening, setting Off early morning. Where would be a good stop over place for the Wednesday night ? Hopefully a halfway point, so not too much left for the Thursday run ? All advise gratefully received, hopefully making it a great trip !
I would aim to arrive Friday early afternoon - the Italian Autostrada can be costly on tolls but side roads have cronic traffic. If you can push to Cambrai there is a good Ibis just off the Peage / motorway - its about 90 mins from Calais to get there on nice empty roads - just gets you down the country a bit in good time. For Wednesday its a tough call - Baden Baden Wed night if you go down the black forrest way or anywhere on the B500 heading to Switzerland - Switzerland needs a motorway pass (massive fine if you are stopped without one) but try and get packing address labels to fix to bike so when you get home remove envelope and sell it on ebay (regular market) - you will need it both ways. I would then try and enjoy Thursday on the bike going through Switzerland - will look up where we stopped in a bit. Then Friday drop down from Switzerland into Italy and pickup the motorway and roll into Mugello.
