tried fitting a standalone quickshifter to bike worked for 100yards then bike cut out battery was on way out so ordered new one stuck it in today fired bike up run for about ten seconds then cut out took plugs out they were soakin wet with petrol could i have mucked my ecu or something up after fitting quickshifter bike ran great before fitting contacted guy he said it would not have affected my ecu any thoughts guys
It must be a spark problem because you are getting fuel up there. I know you've probably done this ten times over but check all the electrical plugs/wiring and fuses, maybe its a crank sensor fault? Are the coils connected on all the way and in the correct order? I dont know whats involved when fitting a quickshifter as ive never fitted one. You've gotta think outside the box, back track on everything you've done, every cover you took off, could be something very silly like an earth wire or a pin pushed out one of the plugs do you have enough fuel?
Lets us know how you get on. So the bike starts then dies after 10 seconds and your getting fuel. So we have the facts, you gotta think why would the engine stop after ten seconds leaving the plugs wet. Something is telling the ecu not to spark after ten seconds, either; immobilizer kicking in?, tilt sensor fault? crank sensor fault? these are some of the things that are likely to effect the spark.
Or maybe it will run untill there becomes too much fuel around the spark plugs for them to spark properly. Are all the spark plugs wet ? As its a stand alone quick shifter I assume it is cutting the spark not the fuel. Maybe the quickshifter is set too sensitive and is cutting the spark whilst on idle hence the build up of fuel
sounds stupid but its a last resort and the only thing i can suggest without looking at it and testing things; but try disconnecting the battery over night, or if you dont want to wait take both the wires off the battery and join them together, that will reset the ecu.
Unscrew the positive and negative wires from the battery and touch them both together, that drains all the power from the ECU. Next time you connect the battery the ECU will be reset automatically
Try cycling the kill switch over a few times, Just because I had an issue like this on my R1 which turned out to be the kill switch also check clutch switch and side Stand switch as these can cause the engine to cut out
do you have ignition of when doing this battery was of replaced with new one so should i still try this mate thanks
sorted guys plugs were the culprit quickshifter seems amazing cant really try it for rain today thanks for responses much appreciated guys
only one problem bloy orange engine management light is staying on could this be the ecu not reconizing quickshifter
Just thinking of everything you have the 1 2 3 4 from left to right on the coils ? Is the quickshifter working now ? You might have to take the bike a run just so ecu resets when it recognises all is well
