Another dirt bike accident! Sounds like its not too serious but not ideal preparation.

MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has suffered a broken fibula in a training crash just weeks before the start of the 2014 season.

The 21 year old was flat tracking in in Lleida, west of Barcelona, yesterday afternoon, when he suffered the spiral fracture of the distal third of his right fibula. He was immediately rushed to the renowned Universitario Quirón Dexeus Hospital, where Doctor Xavier Mir, doctor to the MotoGP stars, treated him.

After a CT scan and X-ray, Dr Mir commented: “The results showed no ligament damage or dislocation and no need to proceed with surgery. I expect he will need 3-4 weeks to fully recover”

At least he bounces well :D
Fully fit in 4 weeks, most folks with a broken leg would be whining about it for months..

On the bright side it could have been worse. Being young and as keen as he is he will be back back up and running again pretty quick I reckon.

I'm sure there will be no expense spared in aiding his recovery, bring out the oxygen tent
Also surprised & with so much money at stake that they don't have something written in their contract about being aloud to do certain types of activities so close to the start of the season

Unfortunately the way he rides on the track hes going to break a few bones sooner or later, hope this is a little wake up call and that he never ends up meeting the grim reaper!

Maybe this will settle him down a little. To my knowledge he hasn't had a broken bone yet so we will now have to wait and see.

Broken fibula isn't a great deal, I walked round for a week on mine before being told I had broken it! Back on the bike 6 weeks later, the broken collar bone caused more problems

I've had a broken collar bone when riding road cycle, long time ago, that is more of a concern but look at Lorenzo's performance.

I cycled two miles home with a broken fibula. Turns out it was a bad mistake. I thought it was a sprain at the time. Torn tendons and calf muscle, bone marrow released into the muscle and a four inch long spiral fracture.

Jeanette even made me strip off on the drive because I was covered in mud.

Lets face it, he'll still be on the podium in the first race.

Im sure if this was mid season it would be a lay off of 2 weeks max. Missing 2 tests wont hinder him much at all
