He passed his test less than 2 weeks ago and had an accident commuting to work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JX_iO_k5vA4&feature=youtube_gdata_player
At least he was ok. I hate to see footage of crashes where there's Armco at the sides of the road. Hate to say it but totally avoidable IMHO.
Yes mate and once I get to work I'll upload the screen shot I got of him and armco near miss recently
Avoidable yes but we all loose concentration now and then. Its good that he had the common sense to get off the carridge way rather than try to pick the bike up
Agree with the lack of reaction time, but that is so common with inexperienced riders/drivers, what with that and mumbling away into a mike, no wonder he did not pick it up. Wrong position on a busy carriageway, should be nearer the centre line, that's his escape route, and like most inexperienced riders/drivers his eye line was probably somewhere around his visor rather than 10 cars forward and scanning. Hate to see these things but are as common as muck.
Thought I was filming his death... he was looking around while on a gentle left hand bend and ran right over to an inch of being ripped apart by armco
Bloody hell that was close in the pic above. Feel sorry for the guy admittedly he has nobody to blame but himself but it's a typical SR and I know when I first started riding I nearly ended up in a hedge because I came into a bend way to hot, positioning was all wrong and suddenly I became fixated on my point of impending doom if it wasn't for the quick thinking of my friend who himself was an experienced rider of some 20 years who got in front of me to catch my attention I was able to narrowly scrape past the hedge instead of going headlong through it. I learned my lesson that day and I can safely say that whilst I still need to improve in the 3 years since I have become a much better rider than when I first started out.
At least he was OK. And hopefully he'll learn a few valuable lessons from it. Seems bad at the time, but avoidable situations like that make us better riders in the long run....
Happy to hear hes ok and yes it was his own fault but as long as he learns, cant be many people on here who have not not had a similar experience part of the learning curve.
Like others have said totally avoidable. Why was he in the outside lane in the first place he wasn't overtaking anything!! If he was where he should of been (lane1) he would of seen the traffic stopping and been able to react. Glad he's OK just hope he has learnt not to do it again. Ozz
I think concentration was on the mini for some reason the Armco one is a bloody close one glad he is ok
Hope he's ok, prob won't feel alot of that until the next day. One question what was he mumbling on about?
Glad he's OK, and let him know that we've all been there, we've all had our "wakeup call" moment... just be sure to learn from it.
Real glad he was ok, all took easy these small incidents go badly wrong. Remember that gap between you and the car/bike in front keep it massive peeps and you'll stay alive! poor bike!
