Are they worth it or should I just refit the original bolt and washer? Honda CBR 1000 RRS Fireblade Ed 7 (SC57) (2007) : Magnetic Drain Plug | eBay
As discussed earlier about sump plug corrosion you have to think anything that deviates from the norm could make the situation worse, most of the mag sump plugs use a lot less thread and for that reason I leave them alone, another option (never proven to how well it works) is to attach a high power neodymium magnet to the filter in theory it will collect any partials and hold them in the filter, once done it fan be moved to the new filter and partials will be disposed of. You could drill a normal one and mount a neo mag to it with some resin. Check the depth first.
Firstly I have no empirical (looked that up) evidence or knowledge on the subject. But the arguments I can think up are; If you are picking up metal shavings, it's too late If the shavings are so small the filter isn't collecting them, why worry. Regular oil changes should be enough. ****************** On the other hand. What harm can it do. It will stop your oil turning to grinding paste. You are just helping the filter out. It's interesting, I think I may get one of the powerful magnets. Mike.
does work the magnet on the filter trick, but like you say, if they get that far surly the filters doing its job anyway?
Yep, I always do...... however, I cannot actually find anywhere that sells the genuine "plug and washer" kit for the 2007 blade... don't want to go to the local Honda dealer as its a pain, can anyone point me in the direction of a good supplier for the OEM plug & washer?
Could post links later to the pages I have saved for Lings and David Silvers. They don't do them as a kit though.
