oil filter weeping

    if you ? over tighten a oil filter and it weeps slightly and yes i have put oil around the o ring and its not that oil am seeing :( can u back it of a bit or is that it start all over again ie drop oil and buy a new one

    did you tighten it by hand or A wrench? if hand, doubt you could put it on too tight, but if by wrench, the oil filter is probably kapoot

    buy hand then like a soft get:confused: just a little nip with spanner

    might be ok to unscrew, and try seat the seal again..

    Should be ok I do mine by hand and then a decent tug with the wrench and never had an is due ....but. Within the next hour I am doing an oil change and this may be a little heads up not to go over the top ..Ps I want to see you out tomorrow the pies will still be there when you get back home along with a Man City win.

    23nm according to the book for a filter on a 2007. Unless the filter says otherwise on the box

    Filters or their housings can be slightly out of true and this is exaggerated due to their big circumference.

    Mine weeps slightly because of this but a few extra Nm of torque sorts it.

    giv i would of been out tomorrow ( before u say here we go again bul shit lol) am off to scotland at the end of may and we are sorting it all out tomorrow so just havin a quick run to betsy for a brew at the caravan in the layby before u hit betsy and then back to me mates but we are out at 8 oclock not late like you lol but i will defo be out on the next one .o and i hope i have stoped the leak fingers crossed if u see a sad get with a repsol covered in oil at the side of the road dont laugh ?

    I would take it off, make sure the seal is seated correctly and not damaged or has a manufacturing fault, check the oil filter isn't kinked warped etc. clean both sealing faces then try again.
