Well... It was my blade until I sold it. Still the best looking bike I've ever had though!

Hi Blackness, I think it is his first day out on his RR5 track bike, he was riding a KTM before on track.

I think if this was his first track ride he would have been snapped up for BSB lol.

^^ This^^ I've only ever ridden my old SD and then when I blew that up my SDR on track. They are brilliant fun and I even managed to win the open 1000s Endurance Champs with NL on it last year. That was helped by 2 wet races though where the KTM comes into it's own and my team m8 who's a bit quick. But it's my pride and joy and so didn't want to trash it racing this year plus the extra trackdays as I'm instructing for NL this year too. Getting destroyed down the straights by sportsbikes got a bit tired as well. Hence the Blade purchase.

Still waiting by the phone for that phone call from Samsung Honda. I'm sure they are just trying to come up with sufficient funds LOL

Arhh right.. That explains everything :) ! I don't know why but i still think of KTM's as dirt bikes and forget they make full on racers too ! My bad...

Good vid tho... Looks like so much fun ! I really must go and do some track playing !!

No worries dude. Most people automatically think dirt when they see KTM. TBH the Superduke is like a cross between a big SM and naked sports bike.

Really looking forward to this year on the Honda. It was a toss up between it and a 10r as lots of m8s have them so have good knowledge of them and spares but the Blade came up from a m8 with so many spares that it was too good to turn down. Might be a bit down on power compared but handles so well that I can hopefully make it up in corner speed.

Yeah def get yourself to the track. It's such a great laugh and buzz and the safest place to test yourself and machine with people who share your passion for bikes. I've given up fast road riding altogether partly due to a very generous let off from a bike cop last year and because it's just so dangerous. No Limits are a really friendly crowd where it's all about having a laugh. Although I may be slightly bias ;)

I used to love tearing it up on twisty roads I knew well but I got let off with a rider awareness course last summer when taking the piss with the national speed limit. You can only do that once in 5 years. Otherwise I was looking at a ban and serious fine. Proper scared me as I'm self employed and would be fooked without my licence :( :(

Anyway No Limits are a trackday company Home page Focused Events and MSV are the other main 2. For your first day I'd go with a local track. Where do you live? Personally I loooove Cadwell Park but there are lots of great tracks. If you can van it or borrow a trailer I would do that too. Its surprising tiring and riding home after tearing around a track all day sometimes isn't the best idea in more ways than one. If that's your only option though then just take it steady on the way home lol. You don't need to do anything special to your bike for the day. Just make sure bike is in serviceable condition and tyres have plenty of tread. It's advised to tape over your speedo. You really don't want to be looking at it to see how fast you're going down a straight. I gave into temptation on my first outing on the Blade last week at Snetterton and ended up going straight on at the end :eek: Lucky there's a massive tarmac run on or it could have got messy.

I'd say try and be at the circuit no later than 7am if you want to get a garage space, most circuits have them. Signing on starts at 7.30 and for a lot of circuits you will need your licence. Best to take it just to be safe. Go see the tyre guys at the circuit. Pretty sure FE and MSV still have one there. NL always do. Your road tyres will require the pressures dropping a bit. They will know the right pressures for your tyre and will adjust them free of charge if you want. They will put them back to road again at the end of the day. If you want 1 on 1 instruction for a session NL offer that for free. You might just want to know the racing line or if you want any advice on your riding they can offer that too. You generally get 3 groups, novice, inters and fast. You get 7x 20 min sessions in the day. 4 before lunch and 3 after. A couple of circuits, Brands springs to mind might run either 7x15 min sessions or 5x20 due to the high cost of renting the circuit.
There is a compulsory briefing before you go out. Things like flags and track rules are explained, there is some useful info so it's worth paying attention. Then just go out and have fun! :D Don't go mad at first! Riding like Marquez is best to left for your second trackday :D:D

Hope that's not too much info m8.

Ah you beat me too it lol. Silverstone is a nice wide fast circuit. Not a bad choice for your first day. As it's fairly flat it's sometimes hard to see corners coming up so take your time learning it. Has huge runs offs though and has great facilities.

I live on the isle of wight so i think my nearest track is Brands but feel its a bit of a tease only getting to use the little indy track..
Its the prestige of it being the GP circuit that really draws me !
I see you also do european circuits too and a few of them would make a very tempting mission like the offer on for Cartagena or LeMans ! I think you've started something dude ;) !

Cheers for all the info and i look forward to getting you to show me the ropes !

Cadwell is a narrow track but feels almost like riding on the road. Appeals to me. Also the mountain is awesome!!!! No garages or electric there so if it rains a gazebo is a good idea. Or just hide in the van :D I'm down for quite a few Cadwell days this year so there is good chance of seeing you there. Let me know the date you book and I'll see if i am on it. Happy to show you the way around m8.

How the fast boys do it. Wish I could get anywhere near that laptime lol!
