Would a rear wheel slightly out of alignment cause the rear brakes to squeal? Went to adjust my drive chain this evening... And discovered the adjusting bots were loose... So checked the markers on the swing arm and the RHS was about 0.5-1mm ahead of the LHS... Got it all the same again and went for a ride... No squeal... (Yet). H
that much wont make any difference tbh, they aren't very accurate any way. best way to avoid squeal is to put a bit of copper slip on the BACK of the pads. might have just had somne crap caught up on the discs or pads.
What's the best way to check alignment? After bringing the rear into line according to the markers I've had no squealing. Yet it bad been happening for about 1000 miles previous, (And started after getting new tyre) so not sure it was crud (Possibly certainly, but would crud last that long? And go away from changing the alignment? Do you put copper slip on the pad and then put it in? Does it work if you just polish the disc with it? H
Don't put copperslip on the pad so it will get to the disc ... you will ruin the pad, put a small amount on the back and don't let it near the disc. It's a grease.
