hi i bought a 13 blade with this fitted , but the problem is its gone like a yellow colour and leaves a mucky line where its fitted when bike is cleaned anyone else had this or is it just me .
had this on my 11 blade since new when I fitted it. well worth it and yes I have the same a little where it peeled a little. Still worth having
I was going to have it but heard too many reports of this problem and also it peeling off paint and stickers if U try and remove a section if it gets damaged. Rather have a bito road rash my self instead.
Had no problems with mine yellowing or dirty edges since I fitted it myself last year to new blade. Couple of small bubbles and a crease but that was my own fault.
Anyone know of a good supplier of a full kit as I want to fit one before my Mugello road trip end of the month .
I have just googled Venture shield approved fitters and they are knocking about over the uk I am lucky mine is only 15 minutes away but I noted one in Northampton maybe they are closer than you think .
I fitted a venture shield to my Repsol from new, great product, does its job. Two years on and it's still clean an clear no yellow tint etc. It's easy to fit with patience.
Had mine fitted 3yrs ago still like new but dirt and polish can collect at the edges so just needs a little more attention to detail! I think is amazing stuff defo does it job after seeing the victims of last year tour of Scotland with stone chips even holes in their nose cone! Well worth it IMO I had to remove and replace some and decals still intact would know it had been on
On mine, fitted myself around 3 years ago. Has gone a little yellow, doesn't notice other than on the white when sat next to a bike without. Needs replacing now tbh, not for the yellow but shite getting under the holes made by stones.
Give this company a call Covertech (Redditch) 01527 893712 www.CovertechMidlands.com - Approved Specialists in 3M VentureShield Paint Protection Film for Cars and Motorcycles for Birmingham and the West Midlands Have a good trip
I fitted mine myself too, it's not too hard but patience is a pre-requisit for installation. Best to start with the smaller bits and work your way up to the harder nose cone piece which is not difficult as such but a lil fiddly due to the multiple angles involved. Plenty of video's on YouTube to give you an indication of what it's goin to be like when fitting!
I got mine fitted by a company called invisible patterns & it's the 3m ventureshield , had a long chat with the guy fitting it . Apparently the cause of it going yellow and build ups around the edges is using a Cream polish , he recommended using a spray on wax ie mguires etc. my last bike was peppered with stone chips and looked terrible . He also said it was a self healing film , well to a certain extent anyways
The yellowing makes sense I use Crystal Glo spray polish after washing I'll use cream polish once a year and top up the shine with the spray also cream polishes are normally slightly abrasive to rejuvenate the paint and get shot of any oxidation so cream polish will dull the finish on the film! I had to fit ventureshield to my nose cone after a mishap in my garage I dropped the Blade smashing the nose cone and mirror against the garage wall So the new nose cone needed new film after plenty & I mean plenty of soapy water and a calm but focused head she's as good as new
I'll see how mine goes , I had it put on at the 600 mile service I'd only picked up one stone chip by then. Cost me £220 to get it fitted and it looks very good. If it stops 70% of the stone chips it's better than nowt.
I am not going to do my whole bike but have some '' off cuts '' i sent off for to do where my boots go (i have a CB1000R Extreme), the side of the bike is colour coded like the bodywork so my boots could rub on the paint, just about to go and do it this afternoon after watching a few utube videos, not to bother about the rest of the bike given there is minimal bodywork (an advantage of a naked bike), but the rubbing of boots and knees on the paint is something i want to mitigate. I will remember the cream polish advice, it does makes sense as all polishes (well most) have some kind of ' cutting ' in them as well, just a nice spray wax for the bits i am going to do.
