OK seems like a retarded question but what headlight bulbs should be used in an RR4? I thought H4 so added those to my bike but on closer inspection yesterday when I click to high beam only the standard low beam filament come on in the bulb in the left hand headlight.. Looked in the workshop manual and only says 55w- 60 which is a great help.. So what should happen, only have the right hand bulb lit normally, click to high beam and the left comes on, now should the right one also swap to the high beam filament or stay on the single? I presume as there is only two wires and not three to the bulbs they need a single filament bulbs but the same type in both headlights? Its all to confusing!!
Yep that's correct one headlight on then other comes on full and the first stays original beam Did that make sense lol?
Thanks Martin, OK figured it out.. But very odd.. Just found online the RR4 should have H7 bulbs, like the H4 but much smaller and single element. Now my headlight is the RRW so uses a H4 but this is what confused me the RR4 headlight loom I bought has the H4 connectors on! I didnt change them so cant figure out why they were removed by the prevoise owner and H4 type added.. Anyway cant use a H7 bulb as headlight wont take it so have rigged the highbeam on the H4 bulb to come on by adding a piece of wire to the third pin. Now low beam is on the right side, high beam working with both filaments on the left.. Phew.. Why H4 connectors were on that loom I dont know.. very odd by handy as saved me a job to swap them over!
Simple answer is the H7 lamp is fitted with an adaptor from standard, that then connects to the loom and holds the bulb in the housing, the adaptor is H4
Ah i see, that explains it then Arthur. haha another mystery solved! Thought I was going mad and had changed the connectors over and forgot I had done it!
No wonder the RR4 was so heavy if they have made adapters to swap connectors and things from one type to another.. Just use the correct ones in the first place haha
