Many manufactures use a simple switch (often a spring and ball bearing kind of affair) it has no kill time as such, they do work and tbh for what they are they work well, the problem is the inconsistency of them, poor kill times and triggers from the peddle lead to snatching of the gear box, the more load that's applied combined with poor kill times and inaccurate detection of the shift can lead to catastrophic failure of the gear box, in short, you want the best detection and kill time or method of cutting the engine to give smooth gear changes, thus less chance of damaging the gear box. Sadly most of the OEM shifters only miss gears when really pushed, it's here in the upper rev range that more damage is likely with a low quality shifter! I think shifters in the sub £400 bracket are a good investment, unless like me you have a cassette gearbox...lol :)

Arthur, you could put your Blade back to standard and sell it then buy an SP and fit your nice Ohlins/Brembo etc bits to it then sell the Ohlins, Brembos and whatever else you took off the SP to cover the price to change.

Is there going to be a sea of SP's though, according to a local dealer they are not shifting as well as Honda uk had hoped, maybe the price as you are getting into exotic stuff once you get past what mere paupers like me can afford these days.

Agree - a lot of Dealers still seem to have them in stock (my local dealer is still advertising 2) - hopefully some discounted ones by the end of the year :)

Well when I got my "limitted" edition 07 Repsol they said there were only 300 in the UK, a day later I asked if that was true, yes he said, why do you ask, well coz all 300 were at the local cafe last night!

Wheels of Peterborough (Now Honda dealer) sold their one and told me they couldn't get any more for love nor money!

Seems hard to believe when others are talking about them not selling. So I've heard they have sold extremely well and they can't shift.... Wonder what actual sales have been like?

Dealer I bought from made a request to Honda to get more and it was refused. they were raging as they reckon they could have sold 4 minimum and certain dealers cant seem to shift them, already seen some with £500 off list.

Seems rather foolish that I was in the dealer hassling them constantly about pricing, release dates etc until they finally gave in and did a deal with me the day before they were allowed to sell.

Every Honda dealer in the UK have been allocated 2 bikes (SP) each.
One with ABS and one without ABS.
However so far I havent found any dealers in the South East who are prepared to do any deals on SP's.

Been thinking of fitting Ohlins TTX rear shock, 30mm fork internals and Brembo M4's to mine, however today thought about setting up a new business and putting an SP though the business.

Claim back the VAT, around £2,499, and then offset approx 40% of the bike value against pre-tax profit per year. Work out cheaper than upgrading my current blade!!

I bought an SP and didn't want to ride it all the time so thought it be a good idea to keep my 08 for the use it's been having so now I'm like a greedy hoor with 2 blades. Only been out on the sp for a short 30kms blast but there is some difference in the 2 bikes.

To be honest that might be a southern thing when it comes to Honda dealers as the three in essex would not move on the price of the SP saying the BS that it's such a fantastic bike Honda wouldn't allow them to discount it and then when it came to having mods put on it (mods that it should've had from the get go at that price) they wouldn't hear of it claiming that Honda have stated the bike is so good it doesn't need to be modified from the factory. Thanks for posting the figures though Arthur nice to know that my dealer was at least close when he stated the figures has that beauty in the pic got an air filter on it too to help her breathe?
