Well yet again another very wet Glastonbury and maybe the wettest since 2007. Never been and glad I am not there this year . Whilst it's not my thing I enjoyed Blondie " looks like Debbie has had a little work done " wink but still put on a good show .Really looking forward to Metallica who are headlining this year only marred by a small petition moaning about James Hetfields support of hunting . Also looking forward to The Black Keys ..Bryan Ferry and Robert Plant . Just read an article by a photographer who did the first Woodstock and he said it reminds him of a prison yard with all the fences and security ect .He reckons that even the other two Woodstock events couldn't come close to the first as it was that big and out of control due to the thousands and thousands that arrived totally unexpected ...Them where the days " man"
It's an amazing place, I was there in 2007 and let me tell you, up to the knees in water at a cashpoint sums it up. BUT man it's an amazing event, if you like music of all genre then it has to be on anyone's bucket list, a must do gig. If you have never been the size of it will blow you away!! It's like a city of tents! Lucky for me my mate runs a stall so we had some dry ground... Love music, love quality sound, sites, views it has it all.
Haha, well as a side line for fun I used to own a fair size rig, 20kw rms sound and a large number of LED light cans, DMX light mixer, lasers, and god knows what else, thomann.de are a good place to buy such equipment, the fun was in the party's, BIG venues like public park party's and private gigs for bands and DJs, was a blast! Setup took a couple of days for the full rig, got me into some of the best gigs for free..lol. If you love music then go mate, now I am a grumpy bastid and don't like people! BUT once you walk through the gates the vibe is awesome, like racing! Get on the case mate...lol If you have noisy neighbours get an amp from thomann, my rig could move glasses off the bar flat out....lol
I know many who have been and yet I've never been. Hoping to get there one year. it's only 20 miles away but saying that I can get locals tickets via good friend for the 1 night only private Glasto party this year. might give it a go as it's free
Ive been to Glastonbury many times.... I found this the other day,my first wrist band... We paid about £20 to get in them days..
Haha no not me mate lol sound system and lights only, id make a right twat out of myself with a mic, not that I need a mic to look like a twat.
camping by your car, people advertising their "wares" on billboards outside their tents,no police anywhere, them was the days went to my first one in 1986 Have family that live in Pilton so could get in on a locals ticket, can't be bothered with it now, it's not the Alternative festival it used to be which is a shame but I guess that's progress Beautiful Days is the kiddie now, but keep it under your hat
Did the whole Glastonbury thing one time only back in 1999 "reckon I got the full scene too, but that's another story" Not that I was put off it's just a time thing, I've just been watching BBC3 catch up and even at my older yearsit leaves me thinking I have got to get back there some day. I do agree with the purists, these festivals ain't what they used to be, that said nothing ever is but as said that's progress I guess.
I watched a bit of Glastonbury last night... Metallica were just fantastic.. I almost wanted to be there but then remembered the mud.Early Glastonbury was a relaxed and very chilled,we used to go up to the farm for eggs and milk and have breakfast with Michael Eavis ..happy times.. and mostly Stoned.. lol
went in 1994 in a friends VW camper - had a great time, then again in 2003 with a Gold VIP wrist band - enjoyed both - you need to be prepared but the vibe is great once you adjust to it. The only annoying thing is the time it takes to get from one stage to another and the decision of which bands to watch as loads clash. I'd go again but think I'd want a campervan to provide some security and somewhere dry in case its a muddy one
Its hard to believe just how big its got... I remember going for a shower not realising it was a communal( men and women).. Had it all to myself for about 5 mins then a group of fellas got in.. I didn't know where to put myself..
