Having spent £2k-£3k on various bits on my last bike I was determined not to fall into the same trap of spending for spending sake. It's proving quite difficult. However, with the mindset of only really fitting bits to the bike which will enhance or improve the bikes performance (not so much out and out power) I am pondering what to do to my bike next? I bought it fitted with an Arrow race can and a rental chain/sprocket although I've not checked yet if the sprocket was a direct replacement or not. Who many teeth does the standard one have? Everything else is standard apart from some levers and a seat cowl. So.....I'm considering a Translogic or HM Quikshifter, Power Commander, Eazi Grip Tank Grips, MRA Screen. What mods have people done that have really made a difference when riding the bike? Oh, I'm ordering some Metzeler M7rr tyres too as current Super Corsa's need replacing anyway and I want something that can handle rain.
It's worth noting I'm not Valentino Rossi so something that will make the ride better, more enhanced and enjoyable rather than giving me a tenth of a second around Oulton Park is what I'm after.
Best thing I ever done to my bike is have the suspension upgraded. You don't need to go as far as I have though fitting aftermarket kit, but even a decent setup by a professional should really boost your confidence with the bike. The next thing that I found probably the best for confidence wise, was to get myself booked onto a Ron Haslam race day. Not only are you out on track finding how much further you can actually push, but you also have an instructor there to guide you, and help you in regards to body position or any other aspect that you are struggling with.
Yeah good shout. I did change the rear shock to a TTX on the Daytona I had and it transformed it. I can't spend that kind of money just yet but I was thinking of taking a trip to Kais as it's not far from me. Ron Haslam day too make sense. I was considering it or even pushing the boat out and trying a California Superbike School session.
Rearsets and suspension first And if you wanna go faster then do something like a CSS/ron Haslam course
A power commander will smooth out the ruff/flat spots especially low end, and suspension With sproket what year do you ride? I think anything over 06 is a 42 tooth rear
2012. I've booked in to have some Metzeler M7's fitted I'm seriously weighing up getting a HM Quickshifter fitted along with an MRA screen and some tank grips. I've never had rear sets on a bike before. I'm far from getting my knee down yet so what would be the advantage? Also talked to Kais in Atherton and they charge £50 for a professional suspension set up. I'd love to fit a new Ohlins rear shock and maybe some front fork internals but I just don't have the cash. Has anyone tried the Ohlins Road shocks? They look to cost £590 new rather than £1200 for the TTX but I wondered how they compared to the standard shocks?
Unless you ride in the red line or change 7k plus quite often im not sure the QS should be the top of your list.. You cant use them from 1 - 2nd so you talking later part of 2nd gear and upwards. Now that's bloody shifting on the road! I have one but find myself not using it as perhaps I thought I might.. If it did 1 - 2nd then perfect.. Need the GP one but thats silly money As others have said, suspension setup for your weight. Im the same allways wanting something else for the bike. .I wish I could be satisfied with what I have and leave it there!! Put the money towards fuel and track days..
I'm like you and modded daft until its just getting for the sake if it. I've the HO064 (i think) rear Ohlins shock and if i'm honest, was crap really after I fitted it until I got the suspension set up professionally as Colin says. Get the Metzlers, both Colin and I get them reecntly and I'm very impressed - 55 profile rear as well.

^ which couldn't you live without ? I would say suspension no 1 then screen and comfort seat after that the HM QS (plus or GP) and exhaust (for sound) I haven't got time to write the full list besides your bike is amazing enough to cover all the base's
Jaimie.. I think the suspension and quick action throttle are my favourites.. And exhaust and rear sets next. A lot of tat on the list but heated grips are awesome :d
Good point QAT is great on the road and rear sets help on the comfort side, hard I try for comfort as I commute on the bike but like to ride quick from time to time So my favs could change all the time as they all help out
Simple things like double bubble screen, grips, rear sets make you comfier on the bike. Suspension is the first thing to spend serious money on, even if it's just to get it set up properly for your weight & riding style but upgraded internals work great. Brakes are next, decent braided hoses, pads and brake fluid make the world of difference and are all that most people need to upgrade. Engine mods next, exhaust, K&N and power commander. Quick shifters are great on the road but even better on track, H&M are known as the best but my power commander one has never missed a beat.
I think most people here are saying suspension which when I had my Daytona was the one thing I missed most of all. I put a TTX on the back and it transformed the ride. When I sold it I took the quick shifter off which I missed for fun purposes but the ride itself was horrible without the Ohlins. Once you have it and lose it you really miss it. I have an Arrow can fitted already so I think a trip to Kais to set up my suspension for £50 and I will chat to them about upgrades. Interested to read about the comfort seat. Are these worth the money? Hunts near me will let you try one out before you buy. Might give it a go. They look better in my opinion. So, tyres first, suspension set up second and maybe a screen and some tank grips and then we'll see. I think I will give the quick shifter a miss for now. Like someone said....what would I miss most. Good way of looking at it.
I wouldn't say maybe a double bubble, I'd say definetly a bubble makes a huge difference IMHO, stomp grips a fairly cheap but worthwhile addition also
