I was looking at my RR5 and thought about taking the pillion pegs off as it has a solo seat cover on. The heat shield is partially connected to this however I was thinking of having a bracket make up, does anyone have any other suggestions on how I can remove the pegs but keep the shield on? Cheers
Just bare in mind that when I slid my bike down the road my rear pegs saved my rear end from any damage.....
Get a spare rear peg and cut down and respray, if your interested I would recommend speaking to Martin Owen as that's what he did
Nope a crash bung doesn't protect your tail end if it leans that way. Also crash bungs can be great but if I had them fitted rather than gently sliding down and off the track the bung would have dug into grass and flipped bike. So crash bungs aren't the all protecting item people think they are
Thats one of the reasons Ive left my pegs on too. It just has to protect some of the damage to can and seat, not to mention my son (10) would cry if I took them off lol
See this thread mate there's a few ideas on there http://1000rr.co.uk/general-1000rr-discussion/19433.htm
I decided to cut down as for now it protects the brake res and kind of hides it until I get round to relocateing it.
That was my exact thinking also mate, its a good idea to be fair. I think ill head down that route and get it painted.
Sounds good, a mat eof mine has a load of random cans in te garage, im sure one will do the job nicely!
