Has anyone fitted a rear Brembo calliper to an SP ? I have RCS levers on order, so as I have to suffer a brake bleeding session, thought I might swap the rear calliper at the same time. Is it going to be worthwhile ? Is there one available in a finish to match the front ?
if you got an abs version like me that s gonna be difficult must design a bracket able to keep/relocate abs sensor
As far as I'm aware it won't fit due to the hub being too big on the standard wheels, according to the sales patter you need aftermarket wheels to allow it to clear I have one fitted with BST wheels but I didn't try it on the standard 2013 model wheel, which I think are the same as yours just a different colour If no one comes back with a definitive answer I'll whip mine out and try it on the standard wheel if you want tho
Thanks for the replies fellas. I was looking at this kit: Brembo High Performance Billet Rear Caliper Kit with P2 34 Caliper - OPPRACING Products Within the same page it says that it both does, and does not fit the ABS model. If the difference is just a bracket, then that wouldn't be a problem as I have an engineering workshop. Clearing the wheels is an interesting problem, it's not like the blade is some niche exotica. Fudster, it would be really useful to know if it fits the stock wheels - Mmmmm BST wheels..... This is going to get expensive.
nice bit of kit the brembo rear caliper I am thinking about one for mine let us know how you get on and the difference between the standard one
Seein as it was peeing down today I tried the Brembo caliper on the standard 2013 rear wheel Much to my suprise it does actually fit !! it is very close to the hub part of the wheel but it does clear .... just There could be differences in the casting from one wheel to another tho Hope the pics help you decide if you want to take the chance
In my opinion; apart from looks theres no point in upgrading the rear brake, it very rarely gets used apart from for low speed manoeuvres. I never use mine on track or when going fast (maybe to keep the front wheel down)
I don't think anyone would disagree, but I still want want. Thanks for taking the trouble Fudster, that is scary close. Whats the clearance like on the BST wheels ?
And a pic on the OZ wheel And I disagree, many top racers both on the road and track use a good deal of rear brake, I come from an MX background (MX from the age of 7) and have always trailed rear brake, mind you I have to try and stop myself from comfort braking on the rear on corner entry but still I trail a little rear most of the time, Tom Sykes data shows he uses a good amount of rear in, mid and out of turn, many road racers use it and so on so I am anti the you never need to use the rear argument.....lol If you don't use it then fine, but what may boil your noodle is the fast guys mostly do...lol p.s Id not run the HPK rear on a OEM wheel if you loosen the two fixing bolts the calliper will touch the hub, if you press it against the hub while loose you will see what I mean, the bolt holes have a good amount of movement when loose.
For info, for anyone that's interested / contemplating an upgrade.
