Those who've been around for a while know I don't have a problem with technology. I relish it and am surrounded by it as much as I possibly can.

Except for one particular incarnation of it. I live my life based on its whims, more even than the alarm clock. I have to drag it with me wherever I go just on the off chance that somebody decides that I have to stop whatever I'm doing, wherever and whenever I'm doing it, and pay attention to them. Right now!

    Yes. The fecking telephone.

My feelings run strong on the subject of telephones...

Due to this, I've kept away from any personal phone that does anything more than allow me to talk to people, or, even better, text them. So I don't have to speak to them.

So, dumbass phone, pay as I go, and have been since carrying one in your pocket was 'not' an option.

But today that all changed. Today I submitted to the peer pressure of those around me to submit to the multi media data retrieval and transmission, pocket sized, too smartass for its own good, telephonic device.

Subconsciously I still fought the moment. Actually getting to the till and realising I had no wallet, causing a panic drive home to see if I'd forgotten it (I had), or whether I'd been dipped in the crowd. I said call it a day at that point but J dripped until I succumbed and drove all the way back again.

Anyway, it's been plugged in all afternoon and hasn't even had my number ported to it yet, but has been bugging me every five minutes with suggestions for this and updates for that and it hasn't even rung yet!

Is this what it's like having kids!?!

Fecking incredible bit of kit though.....

No! No! Don't give in to it!

I thought the same in regards to the smart phones.

Thing is I wouldn't go back now, even if it's just to check the weather on the move or to quickly price check something it's priceless.

To be honest, it's long, long overdue mate. I still maintain though that the day I retire from gainful employ, me, my phone and a 12 bore are going to take a walk across the marshes and only two of us will come back.

I Love my smartphone. Yes, it's more a phablet than a phone, that said phone calls for me are not critical, but Internet/films/etc are.
I'm Slowly beginning to bin the once trusted soft fruit devices as finding there are equal if not better outfits around
To say I'm practically welded to it would be an under statement.
Many a long evening/wet night shift has been passed entertaining myself. Especially now I have unlimited & what seems a good regular supply of Internet conection.
Irritating enough with all these things that need to know far too much personal stuff, but slowly finding I can live without them & disclosing the name of my favourite pet

Welcome up to the 21st century Ken.

Just look at that view :)

Much to Jeanette's annoyance it opens with my thumbprint.

"How am I supposed to get into it?"

"That's, sort of, the point. You're not supposed to, dear".

Jimbo, did you get yours at the same shop as me then. The Chinese geezer that served me did me a huge favour, letting me have the iPhone 6 even before Apple have launched it...

Gaz, it is soft fruit based, I'm afraid mate. I've looked at windows phones, not for me. Having had to use my bosses android phone for all our internet at work for the last two months (BT wankers), the thing is full of unsolicited shit, so not an OS for me either. Soft fruit based product is truly not, in an ideal world, my cup of tea, they are even more a cynical bunch of arseholes than Microsoft, in my opinion, but, it's compatible with virtually everything else I use and relatively free from low life interference, apart from apple themselves and google, of course. (Google Earth would like to access your contacts so that when you enter their name you can fly to their address.... I already know where they live and the last thing I want to do is tell you twats where they live too...).

    And Steve.............just don't.

I lived and breathed apple since they came out mate.
Think it's still a great piece of kit, even posting now on my albeit tired original IPad,
But I get older my eyes get smaller, and the arse I get with iTunes 'technopobe' wasn't worth the hassle, & picking up Gill's iPhone 5 now seems sooo small in comparison. But as said, I don't really do phone.

    Moving on
Now I just plug it into the PC and use it like an external drive. Drag drop files/pictures In out off you go boom, simple.

And to add to the fact, to tether my iPhone to my iPad the robbing bastards wanted an extra £20 a month, and then would jump on me if I went over 1GB
Tech shit as we know changes every day, it's out of date before it even gets on the shelves and certainly way above my ability.
Been looking at updating to a new tablet recently. '10s'
And looking at the reviews 'yes I do listen sometimes' Apple are still a force to be reckoned with.
Samsung whose phone I now have has far more power than my 'old' laptop the tablet runs the same.
Which is then kind of bonkers when you think they expect the same software run something as good as something 3 times as big making it not so user friendly.

At the end of the day so long as you get from it what you want, like my self is all that matters, it's all this requires access to everything that gets me.
To find an app 'which I just have' that doesn't require access to your contacts/Facebook/twitter etc is very rare.

Big brother, ha, this shits bigger than that.

    And to finish.

Steve b, Ha, you know he will ;)

Think it has a warning now stating tethering can incure extra charges.
But after all I am Mr naive ;)

I tethered it to my iPad earlier, just to see it happen, but that was running through my broadband rather than the phone. EE haven't ported my number over yet though.

Can I live without my Iphone and Ipad? Easy, of course I can.

Would my life become significantly more difficult without them? I hate to say, but yes it would.

These poxy things are like drugs, you don't necessarily need them, but then again weaning yourself off of them is feking hard.

Not sure How I ever managed to grow up with just 3 TV channels that operated when they wanted and a Chopper as my 2 wheeled transport.

Alex my old mate....How I live and breathe......I was only thinking yesterday that I hadn’t heard anything from you for a while.......I didn’t think about you for long mind as I was distracted by a bunch of girls on the telly running round a track in their pants.

Congratulations on joining the rest of us in the 21st century, Ken.

Obviously I use the phrase, "rest of us", loosely as I live in Teesside.

It's always good to have a weapon stashed outside the premises mate.
