Oooh! Happy new tyre. Decided to give Pilot Power 2ct's a try. Ordered a pair just before my battery showed signs of becoming 'tired' and meanwhile foenix is trying to sell me a '12 shock. Running a sports bike ain't cheap is it.
I like them on my blade but as Steve said "they won't get many miles" I've done two track days and about 1000 miles, I reckon they'll be goosed by 1200ish, but I'm sure that's a lot better than the racetecs I'm going to fit after them lol. Andy B
Have them fitted to mine, can't fault them Good feel from them and done over 1200 road miles (no track) and still plenty of life left
yeah they had a great review on the tyre test in performance bikes, will be my off season tyre of choice
Well, I'm re-placing a pair of PILOT ROAD 3s' which I was really pleased with but I read an interview with a Michelin technician where he seemed to be saying that PR3/4s' are sports TOURING tyres and not the best fitment for balls out sports bikes. Hey-ho; I'll give 'em a try and if I can't get on with 'em I'll go for PR4s'. Nick.
No offence intended, but does this reason to change based on some dudes comments actually come from a bloke who knows how to ride a bike?? My bet is the said 'technician' aint rode a sports bike in anger all his life.... Great to change / learn other brands and just have a suss around but if you were happy with them? Why change? And in the greatest respect, how many of us can actually say we ride balls out on the road to warrant supper slick levels of grip from a so called sporty tyre? I've used 'sports tourer' tyres on the road, touring, Sunday blasts, and at the ring doing respectable times for my level of experience / laps and have never felt like the likes of pr3's left me wanting for grip - I run out of balls way before then.... Tyres are subjective and you should use what's best for your needs, but IMHO if you like em, fcuk what the magazine who gets a bunch of free tyres for next years long temers says...
I have always found performance bikes reviews to be good, not seen a bad review of the M7 and Will let you know how I get on with them once the season is over and I have put away my awesome Dunlops lol
Haven't tried m7 but was impressed with Colin's usage and mojo on them in Spain!!would like to try them on the road....
It wasn't about all out pace of a tyre on the road for me it was the feel they gave me. Before u read that I'm Contradicting myself
Mate of mine has RP4's on his ZX10 and loves em! Ron Haslam uses BT023 Bridgestones on his race school bikes so can't really see the problem myself. Having said that I am staying with my Bridgestone S20 Evo's, like em a lot so why change. Reckon its just a matter of what your happy with, just like the Mrs (not)
I'm on my 3rd set of 2CTs, Nicko. I've always liked them and they're more capable than I am and are a decent price too. Win!
I had Michelin Power Pures when I bought the Blade, I made it round Pyrenee's on them but sometimes felt a bit skittish on rear end especially in wet. I got around 3500 on them and decided to try Dunlop Sportsmart 2's which transformed my Blade, even on a wet Cadwell they never felt anything but sure footed, dry grip is awesome but I concur I am only novice level really but I feel so much safer on these. No idea on mileage yet but not really bothered as they make me feel so much better in myself.
For legal reasons Michelin have got to say that they are not designed for litre/hyper sports bikes, they need to follow the company line of they are designed for sports touring and there are other tyres in the range that fit better for litre/hyper sport usage! Pirelli have a similar word on sportsmarts compared to roadsmarts! As do Bridgestone. End of the day they need to cover there own asses!
What's the difference between the s20 & s20 evo ? Is the evo the new version and is it better in reviews etc ?
