How do you guys get faster in the corners? Do you just let off the brakes when you would normally trail them in?
I tend to brake very deep into corners but not sure this makes me any quicker tbh mate... Be interested to hear what some more technical fellas have to say about it.....
Haha we're shooting in the dark here then! I'm hoping I'll save a fair bit of time with this clutch mod as I won't be locking up everywhere
It's quite simple really, you end up braking later and later, and leaning the bike lower and lower! It worked for me right up to the point the front dissapeared on me!
Now I have the lap timer I can compare laps / or how a bunch of laps felt in regards to what I'm trying and how I'm riding. Prob with oulton is I don't know it that well and was chasing a lap time so prob not best time to gauge but scarily my quickest laps were the ones I had big moment on ha ha I find if I do brake deep you then when you do get on the throttle and this transition between loading up the front, coming off the brake then getting on the throttle can really unsettle the bike and you lose time on the guy in front who you just scared the sit out of yourself out braking then fecks off again out of the corner.... Rambling sorry but what getting at is I need to work on being a little smoother and rolling through the corner and treating it as one instead of two halves that I seem to - brake to apex then power from it, or just get it going smoother.... But hard to do when being hounded by a bunch of loonies! Going to work on it at donny though
Comment on the BSB coverage on Eurosport about having the inside leg off the pegs going into a bend. Apparently it is all to do with taking weight off the pegs and transferring the weight forwards. Dunno if that is bollocks or not but it may help.
It's a long time since I rode in anger but a bit of advice I was given .... If it's slow after the corner, take more speed into it. ... If it's fast after the corner take more speed out of it. Mike. Marc Marquez seems to like the two wheel drift thing. should be easy enough he's only a kid!
i'll give my 2 pence worth when i get a minute. but,a big factor is front end confidence, something i dont have on the beemer just yet, luckily i have near 200hp to use on the straights
For me, its about being well connected with the bike. If you can grip the bike with your knees, you can take the weight off your arms, and thats when you get the front end feel you need to go fast. It really is the key to everything. if your supporting yourself on the bars, or gripping too hard trying to muscle the bike, you lose all the sensitivity. If you have blisters or cramps or arm pump, your doing it wrong
This worked for me too..big time. Once you can relax on the handle bars and position yourself for corner entry before starting to brake.. Things become stable and you can push harder into the corner. I also trail brake into the corner as I can steer into it more aggressively. Also looking far ahead !! Things will move 'slower' and you become more relaxed too ;-)
Yes, many but mostly francorchamps, catalunya and Le Mans I thought of going to mugello too but opted for portimoa with no limits. How's your French ?
terrible . But No Limits have bought 30 places on this trip, so someone from NL can translate for me I have a question regarding the groups and the transponders. I am booked in group 3 of 4 as that was the only space left. I expect (well, i hope) to be near the top of the time sheet, so i hope to get moved up to group 4 in the afternoon when they do there group/timing juggle. Does this then leave you in group 4 for the start of the next day, or do you start every day in the group you booked. Its a 3 day trip.
