I'm about to do an oil and filter change so I was checking for comments on the forum about both. I've used HiFlo filters on my bikes in the past with no problem. I know people swear by OEM but I'm firmly of the opinion Honda don't make filters so why not look around and get the best one anyway. It turns out Honda filter are made by Toyo Roki and they also supply OEM for other Jap bike manufacturers.

Doing a bit more looking around on the interweb I came across this site
OIL FILTERS EXPOSED! - Honda OEM

A man after my own heart, this guy sourced OEM and pattern motorcycle oil filters and then dissected them to see what was inside. Makes interesting reading.

My conclusion - I'll stick with HiFlo as a decent pattern filter with semi synthetic oil, probably Silkolene.

got a K&N on mine too, good price and the nut on the end makes removal much easier!

Just bought a job lot of OEMs after using a K&N on the last change.
Actually found the K&N harder to remove! Cos the nut is painted my socket didn't grip it properly and rounded it slightly, ended having to use mole grips.
TBH though I probably overtightened it in the first place!
