    Hi guys

I'm looking at importing a Yoshimura R77 Slip on from USA to UK for my '13 blade.
I'm chatted to Tom at Biohazard Cycles (as a few members here recommended him) and I'm happy with the price and shipping costs.
Was just wondering if I will get hit by a tax or importing bill from customs (If so, what's the damage)?
I know a few members here have done this before, any advice would be helpful.

    Cheers

Bought quite a few items from the USA, some very pricey, I've never escaped paying VAT and other charges yet. :(

Sounds reasonable and still quite a bit cheaper than buying in the UK.

it's worth going onto the .gov website and doing some searching for the import code for what it is you getting as everything is different, but if the customs don't know what it is,or just comes under a generic code then they will just stick that % tax onto it.but if you can find a specific code, get the company to put it on the package, saves a lot of hassle.you can claim back the tax if you've been overcharged,or taxed under the wrong commodity code,it happened to me when I got some leathers from the US.i knew the code worked out at 4%,but they charged me 15%,a quick letter and a refund of about £70 was given, but if you don't know the code you'd be non the wiser.

    Scooby

Thanks for the good info. I've had a look at the government website and I now have the commodity code for importing to the UK.
Some of you guys may find this useful in the future.

    Section XVII
Vehicles, aircraft, vessels and associated transport equipment
87 Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof
14 Parts and accessories of vehicles of headings 8711 to 8713
    Of motorcycles (including mopeds)
10 40 00 Silencers (mufflers) and exhaust pipes; parts thereof

    Import
The commodity code for importing is 8714104000.

Importing from outside the EU is subject to a third country duty of 3.70 %.

Goods are subject to VAT standard rate.

They take the 3.7% from the total cost (including shipping and Insurance)
NO duty is charged if its under 9 GBP.

As I'm taking my slip on back to Bangkok with me in a suitcase I'm also going to claim back the VAT at the airport.
