Hey guys I have a PCV fitted and the bike has felt epic but this year in the spring I took the K&N out and gave it a good clean and re-oiled it I notice the exhaust noticeable louder even with the baffles in! Smiles all round :D Well maybe not for the neighbours!
Anyhoo I've notice the bike runs a lot better with the baffle in now where as last year it was the opposite!
I have 2 maps= 1 baffle in & 1 baffle out, last year baffle out power map the bike was mega responsive felt amazing but this year the bike feels best with baffle in on power map!

Not sure if the o2 eliminator is the problem? I've checked the maps and the switch and they seam ok!
What is symptoms if the eliminator fails?

Any help will be greatly appreciated dudes (that's if you can work out what the hell am on about :D)

    Cheers ;)

Firstly the O2 eliminator only bridges the heater wire for the sensor, the resistor does not send any magic readings to the ECU, the ECU simply sees the resistor and thinks the sensor is connected thus not showing up a FI error code to say the sensor is not in the loop. So with the O2 eliminator connected no trim values are taken and the bike fuels the same across the range so your PCV is able to fully control the low end AFR without conflict from the sensor.

If you fit the baffle you will 100% change the characteristics of the bike! normally a more restrictive exhaust will give a more responsive bottom end, it should feel more grunty if you like but not so keen to rev out top end! baffle out often feels less grunty with a free revving motor producing more peak power! they often feel softer through the range, problem is exhaust tech is a trade off of bottom and top end power, hence why flappers and power valves are fitted and used! hope I am not stating to obverouse.

If you think the fuelling has changed then you could chat to your man and get a quick power run to confirm the table is still in trim. Failing that it's hard to say why it would suddenly change. Filters make little difference to power if they are clean, a blocked filter however makes a big overall difference to performance.

Cheers Arthur that's the eliminator ruled out! ;) when I rode down to Dynojet in Preston the journey was in torrential rain nearly all the way down and it was hot and humid! So if the maps were done with a restricted airfilter and with me cleaning it could that change the characteristics? Also does the ecu make any adjustment to fueling after maps are done?
    Cheers Art :)

Air filter could have a role to play but it would have to have been very dirty to have made a big difference, no the ECU does not adjust the AFR without the sensor, that one sensor is the only data the ECU gets from the output of the engine, if you think about it no other sensors read the results of the combustion of the motor.

If it was mine and I felt something had changed or was a way off Id have a quick run done on the dyno to see what's what, or I'd opt to add Autotune to the system and read it for myself :)

Note: the autotunes wideband sensor does not fit in the narrow ones hole, you have to have the supplied bung welded into the stock system.

Thanks again Arthur I'll take it to the dyno again but I'll go local this time :)

No prob, I am sure your aware but obviously a different dyno, diff day and all that will yield a diff result, but it will give you a good idea, any good company would say if it only needs a tweak and not try an pull the wool buy charging for a remap if it's close.
