Big draw for me going into the NL cup next year is it's 'open' so no control tyres :)

happy as larry with the racetecs tbh but never used slicks but want to BIG time! prob is, don't want to spend a season chopping and changing tyres, would like to hit the ground running as this year I wont ride again.... so ideally would like to pick something and stick with em.

so what slicks are going to be best to use?:eek:

I use Pirelli Superbike Slicks as they were recommended to me by infront tyres at Oulton as a good all round slick that gives good mileage and heats up quick and holds it too.

They are a good step up from the Metzeler Ractecs I was using previously and they were awesome too.

Some of the other Slicks offer marginal extra grip but this comes at a price in that they need the heat keeping in em otherwise they can let go big time, say like a big high-side outa Goddards at Donny Jimbo! ;)

good job I try hard enough to keep them warm mate :)

hmmm and you couldn't get the easy ones warm enough to stop em letting go at islands 'the mans' corner and tickling some ribs.... perhaps you should drop back to some 2ct's they warm up quick enough

i'll have a look at the Pirelli as an option but tbh, never really liked many Pirelli tyres ive had over other brands - but cheers.

    I run only dunlop KR's.

In my (somewhat limited) experience of pirelli/metz vs dunlop here is my findings...
    Dunlop are more stable
    Dunlop offer more grip
    Dunlop last ALOT longer
Dunlop give me better feedback and confidence but....

Pirelli heat up isnt as critical as dunlop. Atleast 45mins on warmers and straight out. Any red flags and dunlops become really slidey and dodgy. If youre left waiting on the grid for a long time you will need a god few laps to warm up. Pirelli/Metz arent as sensitive.

Pirelli/Metzelers do offer great grip and are alot better in low temperatures or slightly iffy conditions but dont last as long as a result. I also find the rear skips alot more under hard breaking and hard acceleration than the dunlops.

With that said if a circuit is real slow speed then its hard to keep the temperatures in the dunlops too and once the temps drop they start to slide as a pre-warning to you going sky/ground/sky/ground.

    Alot :)

Bought 4 x SC1 Pirelli rear Scrubs in 200/60 section from Racespares UK 2 months back for £45 each.

They came direct from the BSB grid so are obviously a favoured tyre amongst some decent riders.

The two fastest people in the group I do trackdays with both use Dunlop k106/108s, both on Blades.

Not sure how many days they get from a tyre.

    I'm a Pirelli man myself.

I'll likely stick with Michelin Power Cups, not slicks but I get enough lean angle out of them (A front, B rear)and have loads of confidence in them also.

No dramas, apart from a massive high side at Anglesey....

Lol, I'd say that's a slight drama? :) but 9/10 you can't blame the tyre for that. More the rider control & conditions / tyre conditions IMO

If your happy cool, but most tyres will give you lean angle, I could grind out my blade on pr4's - but it's the grip that the slicks will give you mate. More grip = faster corner speed at same lean angle, more power down out of corners and ability to push the front harder into a corner on the brakes and therefore quicker lap times ;)

Well that's my theory anyway lol

They are all french now but Motorsport rubber I've been using french but Motorsport d212 I was reluctant at first but was assured they were as good or better by IFM and he was right really good but I only really pushed them at croft being a jessy all season . All dunlops from feb 2014 will be french

Dunlops are great I like them.i feel good on them .But in reality are any of us pushin a set of eg. Supercorsa a to their limits. Or are we trusting tyres for our bad riding. Not starting a row just a thought.
Perilli slicks have gave my mate more confidence over s-corsas mainly he thinks due to the taller profile

I agree, when i see SuperStock lads doing 1:38 a round Oulton on Supercora's then until I'm going faster i will stick with them:)

Yeah but even better slick tyres allow us to get away with bad riding at better times ;)
