Evening folks, so I've decided I want the above exhaust for my bike. I've seen quite a few pictures of the underseat carbon ones, but don't recall seeing many for the stainless steal. If you have the yoshi on an 06 or 07 plate, would you be as kind as to pop a picture up so I can drool over them? Thanks
Does that mean I don't have to buy one specifically for the 1000rr, I could get the 600rr version and it fits the same?!
i think its shorter than the 1000 one and i dont know if the link pipe you get with the 600 version would fit i just took a chance and won mine on ebay for £100 nearly new i had an old link pipe from another can i had i just needed to reduce the diamiter by 1/2 mm on the link pipe were it goes into the can the rr5 inlet is around 50mm and the linkpipe i had was just over 50mm belt sander sorted it out no issues on proformance go realy well i think they look better because they dont stick out of the back of the bike so much
Going to revive this thread! So my shiny new Yoshi should be delivered on Tuesday, want to ask you folk that have fitted one a couple of questions please.... Did you use any exhaust sealant when fitting or is it not needed? Is the silver heat shield to remain in place after fitting (the bit I've made a poor effort off circling in red!!), as I've seen a few pictures and it looks like this has been removed? Thanks
See this............ http://1000rr.co.uk/general-1000rr-discussion/19505.htm and this............ http://1000rr.co.uk/general-1000rr-discussion/18971.htm The Yoshi link pipe that slips into the Honda link pipe is too big, (was on mine and others too) not by much maybe 0.5mm but it makes it 'very very' tight, I had to file down the yoshi pipe to get a smooth slip in fit. The original 'underseat' heat shield is junked, Yoshi supply foil tape to fit to the underseat area, I'd get another small roll of the stuff to add to the supplied foil as yoshi are a little bit mean with the amount. However, the outer heat shield remains, take the opportunity to give it a good polish while you're at it. You'll also be disconnecting the cables for the servo exhaust valve, you can either cable tie 'em out of the way but it's better to just totally remove them. "Make sure the servo motor is in the correct position afterwards" There is a packing shim that fits between the honda link pipe and the header pipes (No: 23 on diagram) which on mine fell to bits and I was too tight to buy (£20) so I did the most super neat job with fibreglass matting and gum gum, shame it didn't work! too hard and brittle, fell out bit by bit. Did it again this time with an excellent silicone sealer. The clamp on mine (No 18 on diagram) was also totally f****d, got one from some car parts shop £5, original Honda £28! Honda Motorcycle Parts / Genuine Honda Parts | Honda Cars | Honda Motorcycles | Honda Power Products | Lings Honda Overall however it's pretty straightforward apart from these little problems, it's got a lovely sound depending on your tastes, I've gone through my 'loud' period and now prefer a bit less attention. Apparently it gets louder with age as the baffling deteriorates.
mikegml, what silicone sealer did you use to replace the shim please? I'll go and pick some up tomorrow, better to be prepared!
