Hi all,I've started to get the bike ready for the imminent arrival of my HM GP Quickshifter. I've taken the tank off the bike today and it'll be airbox tomorrow. Is there anything to watch out for, hidden connector etc that may damage if not correctly removed first. Also do you need to take the side panels off (and how) or can it all be done leaving them. There's a pre tapped hole on top of the crankcase near the starter, would this be a suitable earth for the HM unit? Arthur mentioned very important to have a good earth or damage to the unit likely. Cheers Ross
I know the bolt hole and yes that's fine, any good earth on the engine is fine, a bad one would be the rocker cover, you can remove the left fairing and some of the right, once the air tubes are pulled from the air box depending on the size of your hands you may have enough room to unplug the coil pack connectors and plug in the HM loom, route the loom down the left side of the bike and be sure to place the connector for the GP by the rear of the engine in case you need to get to it, the data connectors for the gear box speed sensor and the crank position sensor are under the fuel cell, hook them up and then to the GP and your good to go..
Ross if you want to bring the bike up to mine and we can fit it here. I have all the tools and my bike to use for a guide if need be. Not that we will need it, as it's a piece of piss to fit.
Offer Sorry to invade this post, been mustering funds to get my hands on a HM Quickshfter, Arthur, is the offer still open ? If so how do I order one with you? Cheers Steve
Cheers for the offer Colin. I've already given the bike its final big wash this year as next chance i'll likely have to get out is December, and that's party season, hic! Don't think i could have waited until spring to fit it so went out for a look at the bike and next thing i know the petrol tank's sitting on the garage floor Found an old post from Scooby about airbox removal and decided to give it a go. I've got all winter so gonna take my time and do it right, just not sure about how to take side panels off on the 2012.
Have got my airbox off no problems and can get to 3 of the plugs, but unless I had fingers like bendy pencils I'd never reach the left one as the air intake is in the way. If I remove or loosen the left fairing will this air intake come out of the way?
Right,I've managed to get connectors on tops of coils and have the lead on the left hand side. Question is which way have people found to be the best of routing that cable down the side to connect to rest of loom. Pictures would be most appreciated. Cheers
I've very near got my QS all fitted up now and just wanted to know what type of USB cable I need to plug into the shifter if anybody knows? As you can see there's a few to choose from, I'm hoping it's micro B because I have that type of cable for my camera. Thanks in advance for any help offered. Andy B
