I'm thinking of upgrading my suspension in the New Year so what's the best shock for solo road-riding? Is there any point in spending a lot on the rear without up-grading the front forks too? Nick.
I have a 2008 blade (from new) and recently put a Showa rear shock (from a 2013 blade). It feels a lot better. Got from eBay around £189. Honda quoted £1000 ish for a new one. I think they invent prices.
If your Bike is pre 2011 Nic then cheapest and best option for Road Riding is the BPF Showa Forks and Rear Shock off a MY2012+ Bike. Lunatic Fast Road use or Track then any of the usual suspects are great so whatever you can drop on cheap is best. Bare in mind some 'apparently' cheap Ohlins/K-Tec/Bi-Turbo/Maxton etc may need a full overhaul/service so factor this in to your price
I ve just fitted a 2012 that was revalved by Ktech will be interested how it all feels with BPF 2012 forks on the Trackbike at Almeria in a week or so.....
I've been looking to do the same for while now. Nearly purchased the Nitron off Daz but from all accounts from Nitron themselves it doesn't fit my ABS(bugger!). Unfortunately my pockets are not deep enough for brand new but as SW says budget for a service if you buy used. Upgraded the fronts already with K-tech and not to exaggerate.. they are bleeding awesome see my review here http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/15009.htm. I might just buy a very good condition pre 2012 shock and get it upgraded with K-tech internals and weight matched spring, means the shock will be set up perfectly for me and also I can remove when I come to sell the bike.
hi everybady i just wonder if enybady knows whats the lenght from eye to eye on cbr 1000rr 2008 rear shock is many thanks
Nick you may benifit from just a set up if not done already or if like myself you are a gram or 2 heavier than the average person you will prob benifit having something sprung to your weight, I fitted my Ohlins this year with heavy duty spring for my fat arse and made a world of difference. I'm sure the same red auld could be achieved with most of the big makes
On my 600rr I had front revalved and better springs and wp rear shock all set up to my weight. Made so much difference All done by kais
