Thought you may be interested to see the process to remove almost 800,000 of the ceramic poppies in just 10 days - some logistics and organisation / planning I can tell you: Tower Poppies - Removal team Thursday 20th November, Afternoon shift on Vimeo Few still images below
Thanks for posting Al a top effort from everyone involved . Where are the poppies going to end up next?
Other was a great thing to have helped with. All the Poppies have been sold, however a number will tour the UK before ending up on permanent display in imperial war museums in London and Manchester. They sold out months ago
Ours arrived this week, nice presentation box and booklet. The wife spent an afternoon there making and planting them some weeks ago, and her Gt Grandfathers name was read out at the dusk ceremony in August. Working right by the Tower it has been incredible to see this from the start to now the dismantling of the tribute, just looks rather bare now though.
I never managed to see the full installation which must have looked stunning - there are loads of images / photos of it so hopefully a TV program will be made about the project I'm just waiting for mine to arrive its only when you see them up close do you realise how unique each one is - which adds to the impact I think
I never did get to see the finished result, but I did see them a couple of months ago, when they were probably half done. What a fantastic tribute its just a shame it couldnt have stayed in place for a few more weeks but I understand frost will cause damage.
