I have an abba stand and their front lifter but with the missus' bike in the garage it is a bit tight on space, and so I am looking into getting some paddock stands for those jobs where I don't have time/inclination to use the abba stand. Thing is I can't decide whether a headstock stand or front paddock stand would be the best option seeing as I have the abba to lift the bike without impeding the front. Suggestions?
Like you I have the abba superbike stand with hydraulic lift so I just use paddock stands front and rear in addition. Ghostbikes have some heavy duty 'black' paddock stands reduced from £140 to £70 atm ...
I've got quite a few under fork style stands, but always use the under yoke, makes life so much easier to be able to turn the wheel, and also for taking out the forks etc.
It's those ones I'm looking at, especially as they also have a 10% discount code on their twitter feed. Thanks Scooby, that's the sort of info I needed
just be carefull with the ghost ones, they are cheap for a reason, but saying that,i got an under yoke stand from ebay from Germany for about 50 quid delivered and is spot on,not as good as harris ones, but 70 quid cheaper.the pin you will need to find elsewhere though as the 5 that come with it wont fit, think the blade pin is about 22mm,maybe even bigger.got one in the garage so can measure if you like.
Imho they don't look cheap at all. Completely over engineered tbh. I've had a few different stands over the years and these are the best yet.
I didn't say looked cheap,i said they are cheap for a reason(some of their stock at least),but as long as your happy then that's the important thing.
Think it's a 24mm pin from what I have read on here, although some have filed it down a bit as it is a tadge tight. Would love a set of Harris stands but can't justify the cost for the amount of time I will use them. The Ghostbikes ones look OK with some decent reviews on Amazon, and Mr OCD seems keen on them but of course only time will tell.
