And yet a simple modified one for a fraction of the cost will do the same and let you run a standard subframe too
Yes I know but with peeps on ebay asking £300.00+ for a tank (assuming you want to merely extend the range of your road bike and keep your original tank for when you sell the bike) and then having to factor in the cost of conversion (another 480 notes at e.g., 'ReactiveParts.com') I think 'fraction of the cost' is a little optimistic mate. Fireblade Fuel Tank Black !!!REDUCED!!! | eBay
when you think about the amount of time gone into fabricating that ally tank,it's understandable.it's not just some botched standard tank
Well, logically, and stating the bleedin' obvious, the more fuel you can carry, the less times you have to stop to buy more, see? With a 22L tank, on a 400 mile round trip to Cornwall (SURFS UP! ) , it would mean re-fueling just twice (once there and once back home so as to put the bike away with a full tank) instead of 3-4 times. I have no problem doing a 200 mile hit without feeling the need to do stretching exercises. Perhaps you blokes should get down the gym more? Just sayin'.
It was a genuine question. Carrying more fuel, means carrying more weight which is detrimental on the handling. Regardless of whether you can do 100 miles or 300 miles without stopping you will lack focus and concentration after more than a couple of hours of riding therefore stopping to stretch, refresh and refuel is not a bad idea. Perhaps you should have bought a touring bike. As for the gym... maybe you should take your own advice fatboy.
Haha I go gym mayb I should do more. While we are takin the p1ss ur profile pic on my phone looks like despicable me character
I'd like a longer range tank, on a tour with friends that each time you stop for fuel, it's shall we have a coffee and just have quick fag does my head in. Through Germany there was a Mercedes car Delivery transporter with new A classes on it, we would pass it then stop again refuel, coffee n the regulation quick fag !! We would be once again behind the 56 mph truck we got going again. Lol
Keep an eye about breakers yards and racers who will have tanks, ive seen alot less than that paid for a tank with pump Wouldnt cost anywhere near £480 from a decent engineering firm, ignore big bike names if theyre just using the "uniqueness" of this service to sell it. Any fabricator is more than up to the job for pennies on the pound compared to what theyre asking. Its simply a cut n shut with new material added on Also any money you spend can be mostly regained selling it on after youre done, same as the alloy tank. Alloy is deffo more bling but youre going to need to spend 300quid on a HRC subframe and then modify your tail unit to fit that? Sounds painful
Standard tank is steel though not alloy.. So you local engineering firm could mod it but wouldn't be light weight. Think this is part of the attraction with alloy tanks.
If anyone here is racing at a level enough to take advantage of that then hats off, even more for the boys who are road riding. Its really not alot of steel being added in all fairness and id hazard a guess a lot of TT bikes arent running full alloy either. Excuse the mess
i'd say 90% of the mods everyone does to thier bike is pointless, but doesn't stop people, especially with road riders.
If you mean so-called 'performance' mod's yes, I have agree with you but my tall screen, heated grips, comfort seat, tail-tidy, GoPro, and even the Taylormade zorst that I added for it's 'looks' alone all, I think, enhance my 'blade experience.
