Just done the seals on one of the front callipers, but can't get them to bleed well enough. I've tried a bleeder pipe and also back bleeding via a large syringe, but the lever's still soft. Any ideas???
Bleed master bleed left caliper then right and back to master I've never used bleeders etc just a pipe .
I bought one of these last year and will never go back to the old ways of bleeding. You simply put one hose over your brake nipple, pump up a little vacuum pump and open the bleed nipple.. best brakes you could ever hope for.. Thanks guys. I'll bleed the m/c today and use a rag to catch any fluid from the banjo, but have ordered the reverse bleeder for backup as there's definitely air in the system somewhere as the lever goes all the way back.
Sorted. You were both bang on the money with the m/c. I cracked the bleed nipple open with me pulling on the lever, it spat some air out then the fluid started coming. Tightened it up again and now the lever is nice and solid. I can't believe how easy it was, so I did it on the road bike too just for good measure
I bought this on the advice of Gilesy in the end to make sure that I do a proper job, although it was the bleeding of the master cylinder that caused the original spongey lever.
When youve finished bleding the brakes, take the top off the reservoir, pull on the lever and tie wrap it to the handlebar. Leave it for 24 hours. Cut tie wrap, pump brake and put the top back on. Now see the difference!
I'll give that a go on both bikes as I read that it lets some of the trapped bubbles out back into the reservoir.
