Optimate charger Plug - pics?

Wondering were you guys have mounted the optimate charging plug on the bike?

i was thinking under the rear cowl..? as its out of the way and i can pop it and leave the charging wire connected in the garage?

Any pics of were you have fitted would be great and how you secured it in place?

I had mine coming out of the side of the bike so I could plug in the USB lead which ran from there up to the Dash area for the Sat Nav etc.

 

No pics, but mine is just tucked under the right hand panel under the riders seat - easy to undo when needed, and stays hidden when not.

 

Same as sinewave but on opposite side,sits neatly tucked away and easily accessible.

 

I have-done what you suggest and have it out of sight under the rear cowel. Very easy to do and just pop the cowl to connect. Din't have a pic but can send if need

 

Did not realise its a USB port..that would be handy up front by the speedo - already have a lighter socket to power the phone..

 

It isn't a USB as a standard in an Optimate kit.

You need to purchase a USB lead as an extra and run this from the existing charger connection which is a twp pronged connection to where you want your USB outlet.

Everything has a USB connection nowadays so it's the best option really.

you have the USB lead connected to it that and this is near the speedo..

is it long enough for the optimate charger to sit under the rear cowl and the USB lead run from the back to the front?

 

Yes, plenty on it for that.

Just runs up along the inside of the Tank cover and Zip tied in the Dash area.
Meant to make a bracket but never got round to it.


Fag lighter sockets are so last Decade and very big in comparison!

I then used a 1M USB Male/Female lead from this into a Tank Bag where you can charge multiple devices and run ya Sat Nav

No pics, but I have mine under the seat cowl, and just take it off when charging.
Like it is right now.
Seemed the easiest option to me.

 

I ran mine up so it comes out under the pillion seat. You can put the seat back on once the optimate is plugged in and you can charge your phone or ecig or whatever under the seat as you're riding along.
