Never mind that.........Aston Villa didn't lose today so that's as good as win result in my eyes. When I lived in Four Oaks I used to have a session ticket and go to every home game, I am not sure which was worse, watching them take a beating or the Balti pies. But, then one day it occurred to me, they never came to see me when I was bad...... Up the Villa.
Boo! That last minute goal by Terry has put Chelsea back on top! Never mind the writings on the wall for Chelski!
Never mind the Spurs! Aberdeen Top of the league! First team in 22 years to be totl after new year outside the old firm
Sorry guys, I had planned to pen my thoughts after New Year's Day but I injured my back last Sunday and tbh have been feeling crap and have not even watched a game leg alone attended one since. It's the most important spell of games that sets the tone for the rest of get season, so I will get my head around it and let you have the thoughts of a tormented Hammer later.
I can only see one winner from the Christmas fixture list and that is Citeh. Played their way back into contention without the best player in the PL being able to play.. So it's game on towards May for these 2, cannot see any team capable of sustaining a challenge to either of them Just got to say the Big Fat Frank issue leaves a bad taste in the mouth, this has been a very clever body swerve of FFP and a complete abuse of loan rules and a damaging exercise for a new franchise in the MLS, lets hope if he ever turns up there he gets the s*it he deserves. Rant over. Well well, the team that some thought might be the new invincibles look a little more like the new vulnerables, did not see the Spuds being able to put one over on them, but its good for the PL, and the Special One will be even more convinced the world is against his pampered stars who supposedly started to bleat and whinge when told they had to work Christmas Day.....welcome to the real world boyz, must be such a bitch to have to get by on the odd 5 mill a year or so. And that brings me to the 2nd best team in North London, without doubt the other winners of the Chrimbo period, the young lad Kane is on fire, must be an England call up coming, and backed up by one of the best stoppers in football, they are having a drawers up period at present, will be interesting to see if they can maintain it, history says no and it will end in glorious failure, but maybe their time has come. The cruise liner works team have come back from their shakey patch and are getting it going again, full marks, it would have been easy to slip down the line, Koeman is looking to have a shout for PL manager of the season at the moment, and there still seems to be some life in the youth production line on the south coast looking at the names and ages in the squad. Also must say, at present, good business shipping off Shaw to the Mancs, personally he looks sh*te IMO. Gooners, Hammers, Pool all very mixed and inconsistent form through the period, with the Hammers losing ground the most. Well what can we make of Pardews exit? Informed wisdom always said he got the long contract due to a penchant for having a flutter with the Chairman, so are we to assume that those issues are all settled and clear? Not sure if he is the man to reignite the Eagles, who have definitely lost their mojo along with losing their crowd as well, watching with interest.....just as much for who will be the next Ashley bitch in charge on Tyneside. The basement is as confused as ever, perm any 3 from 9 for the chop, still think the Foxes are doomed, but hard call on the rest, and can you believe the Toffees are flirting with danger? How many times have we heard a team has too much quality to go down?, personally cannot see it, I still have Redknapps donkeys and Burnley joinng the Foxes. Baggies have turned to the Red Adair (who is old enough to remember him?) of PL survival and escapism techniques, so lets see if Tony can pull this one off. in the middle Stoke are doing what they are best at, is grinding out the odd win here and there, and if all else fails looking like the modern day Wimbledon and kicking sh*t out of anything that moves, don't you just love Shawcross, Adam, Nzonzi and Sidwell, when it all kicks off in a Dartford curry house on a Friday night, you ain't the one going home in an ambulance with those boys in your dining party. Parting shot.....I am not one to get too involved in another countries domestic footie, but I did note a little potential spat brewing further up the thread between Gilesy and DannyBhoy, now from a neutrals view, how refreshing it is to see a challenge to the one party system that is known as the Scottish Premiership, frankly with all Celtics resources how they don't go unbeaten year on year is a mystery, but its nice to see the Dons maintaining a challenge, Cally have slipped back in the last few weeks, but sadly the strength of Scottish domestic football is really a low ebb, and it's hard to see any change in sight. One of the great questions that as yet remains unanswered.......just where would Celtic finish in the English Championship, top 2, playoffs? nah not a chance. Happy New Year footie lovers
Nice one KB. I just love the justice you give the spuds Personally I'm just glad normal service resumes in London. Hammers on the slide and spuds in false hope after beating chelski that this is our year. As you say, history will suggest we will grab fourth and hold onto it with venom until the last match of the season....when our hearts get ripped out by the scum who always finish fourth! But maybe just maybe.... The cruise liners will sink and we will push on. I can only hope anyway!
Ha The Red Army in retreat lol losing against Southampton at home is a disgrace ....Wilfried Bony city legend....
