Going to remove my rear shock by the Haynes manual method with axel stands have never done it before but saw this on YouTube Any views on it? "Honda CBR600RR CBR600 Remove Rear Shock Suspension Easy Way 600RR" Thanks
Scissor Jack on top of a round spiny thing, pushing against a shiny oval thing... Potentially a few heart stopping moments i predicted
I was able to use my rear paddock stand under my footpegs, have also used axle stands under these to.
I used two long drills in either side of the swingarm spindle and supported by axle stands. No problem.
I've done it on a mates SV650, a GSXR1000 using axle stands and will be doing it on my R6 race bike very soon by the axle stand method.
Changed mine with axle stands on pegs.I wasn't confident with it especially whilst taking the exhaust off.
Car jacks under the frame works too... Bit extreme but would work. If you have non folding rearsets then you can put the jacks under those too
Good lord ! A great many innovative methods here, would the easiest solution not be to pick up a used Abba stand from Fleabay ? Instead of trying to get something that does what the Abba stand does.... just buy one. I have the stand with the extra front lift arm and its just so simple to use and takes both wheels off the ground at the same time as uncompressing the suspension when the bike is in winter storage, simply a well made piece of English metalwork.
Nope - I'm too tight to spend the money on one and I already have front head stock stand and axle stands. I will be changing the shock on my R6 from standard to Fox racing this weekend
