Just fitted a new chain on my road bike only to find that it's got a rivet link and not a soft link. I've positioned it with a G clamp, but need someone with a Whale tool or similar to open the rivets up with as I'm meant to be riding to Skegness on Tuesday. Anyone near to Lincoln got one that I can ride to and tighten up the rivets with? I can bring beer ;)

Might have to ride it to one of the local garages before I set off on Tuesday then. It should be ok for a short run as I nipped the rivets up a little, but wouldn't trust it not to pop off on a long ride

    Triple S. 530 pitch, 114 links.
Hopefully it will match my Renthal sprockets, but I've only ever done a soft link before.

Yep them solid rivets are a ball ache if you haven't got a whale or similar. When I did my tsubaki just used the two hammer method, since them only used DID with their soft/hollow riviets!

    Sorted.
Managed to get booked in to B&B Suzuki Lincoln, who are my nearest dealer as I didn't want to travel far with the link only mildly tightened. They nipped it up for a fiver and I went out for my first ride of the year, albeit in textiles brrrr!!!
