After highsiding my 929 I said I'd never get another 1000cc bike unless it had TC fitted. However the lure of the Blade was too much and I chose a 13 model over the BMW or Kawasaki, unfortunately as you all know TC isn't an option.

Does anyone have any experience with fitting an aftermarket Traction Control unit? Are they any good? How much did it cost?

I will only be riding on the road with the occasional bimble in the novices so don't need a race worthy system, juse looking for a bit more safety.

    Cheers.

IRC prob the most reasonably priced aftermarket system and it uses wheel sensor and easily fitted and has many race features available to build on.

I have recently fitted a GripOne P3 unit with IMU, not tried it yet but after a lot of head scratching it seemed to do what I wanted.

Thanks for the replies, the guys who are saying you don't need traction control are probably much better riders than me. Multiple broken bones and a written off 929 would suggest my throttle control could do with a little electronic assitance.

Shame there are no decent road based systems about that don't cost the earth.

The Gripone looks okay but buying from a foreign company I've never heard of worries me a little bit, £400 is about what I wanted to spend as well, £1500 seems a little steep as I'd never use any of the race stuff. N20Capri, let me know how you get on with it. :)

    Cheers

Badly setup TC is probably more likely to result in a high side than having none, and getting off on the low side is generally less painful.

Because if it isn't setup properly and cuts the power violently then inertia will take it's course and you'll end up doing an impression of superman when the tyre regains grip.

My opinion is if you want TC get a bike that has it as standard as it will have been developed and setup for it.

Aftermarket systems need a lot of input and skill to setup properly.

I see, makes sense, you're probably right with regard to buying a bike with it from factory, I've never had great experiences with aftermarket stuff and I'm not great with a spanner, even worse with a soldering iron.

I've read only negative things about the Bazzaz system, the fuel map and QS would be good for me but mainly want TC.
