What's an acceptable amount of free play in the gearshift rod ?

To explain a little better (hopefully) I mean the splined shaft that protrudes from the side of the engine/gearbox that the rearset gear shift rod attachs too. Just been adjust the rearsets on my new to me ZX10r and I think the amount of free play seems excessive.

I put a dti on it and its moving laterally in and out 0.7mm. I checked on my SP2 and the free play is much noticeably less and measuring about 0.2mm. I know it doesnt sound much but when you waggle the shaft on the zx10r it seems excessive to me and actually feels greater than 0.7mm and like there is a problem.

Hope fully the below photo shows it a little better.

This video I found on youtube demonstrates the problem quite well. Is that a normal amount of free play ?
