West Country Windings rewound my stator mate. If you are not getting any increase in volts across battery terminals then your stator isn't producing volts

The alternator puts out A/C volts to the Reg/Rec, not the battery. No point checking for volts at the battery if the Reg/Rec isn't functioning because there won't be any. As the Op has said alternator is checking fine for volts, so must be Reg/Rec.:D

Not saying that the Chinamans cheapo is not any good, but I always look at these issues and try to think through exactly what the base cost is after design, component sourcing, enforced labour cost, factory overheads, packing and transport, Ebay fees and profit..............so that about a 35p unit. At that point I look at the 10K bike its going on and say to myself, was the whole thing built with 35p components at the factory, or did they spend a few bob more...then I make a purchasing decision.

Will be really interesting to see if it lasts and works for any length of time or just catches fire ;)

Glad my bike is not worth anywhere near 10k then lol ;)
Will let you know how it goes ;)

Will see if I can find a small fire extinguisher to strap to my bike ;)

Buying a Reg/Rect from a scrap dealer is your best bet to buying OEM as it would have come from an accident damaged write off that was on the road before hand, Chinese ones I would never trust and as an electrical support engineer I've seen some bad things....your choice though, so good luck.

Your quite right Simon the big four Jap manufacturers have a lot of parts manufactured in China, under strict manufacturing control. worth a punt ;)

The RR110 is from my understanding the latest spec reg/rec which by not shunting the excess voltage it doesn't get so hot but it still connects back to the main loom where another problem lies and a lot of people now bypass the loom and go straight from the reg/rec to the battery.
See www.roadstercycle.com for the FH020 with Superkit.
The only problem with using a Series reg/rec on a high revving bike is the amount of heat it produces

Update, put the new cheap chinese reg on and still no joy, so even though the stator seemed to be putting out electric I took it out and test it fully and one look told me what it was, with clear to see burnt copper wires, so as said on here it was indeed the usual fireblade stator problem :(
West country winding provided and fix and all working now :)
Weird the readings i was getting, but all sorted now, cheers for your imputs :)

old with new, you can clearly see the problem :)

Did they repair your OE one or did you go the full monty and upgrade to the 06/7 set up ie stator and flywheel ? And did you catch it before it blew the camcover seal outwards thus causing an oil leak ?............just saying like

Sorry to say this Simon but without the upgraded flywheel the 04/05 is known to continue to have problems.
A problem that can come from a bad stator is a blown cam cover seal as Haggler stated.

Fragments of copper wire from the stator can ignite and blow the rocker cover gasket.
The magnets were too strong and the air gap was too close to the stator in the first flywheels. Honda then brought out a matched pair which I advised getting. Fingers crossed for you

No fragments at least and no blown cover, was caught early I guess, but will keep my fingers crossed, this one lasted for the last 13200 miles (as long as I have had it) no mention of one being put by last owner?, what sort of life are people getting out of them?
if there is a known problem with the flywheel, shouldn't Honda have done a recall?

They ended up extended the warranty and then those that couldn't get it done for free from the local Honda dealer went for the matched pair where they knew of this upgrade

No recall for the fault but Mr Honda extended their " goodwill " gesture for 7 years provided you have been a good customer and the mileage was reasonable .
