The current government in Wales known as the Welsh Assembly is throwing money about like it's going out of fashion. They do seem very reluctant to release cash for this project though, only reason i can think of is its not in Cardiff. On a different subject the tyre supplier would have to bring plenty of wets with them.
I've booked 4 days camping too at Donnington farmhouse,and even tho it was sold as camping for the moto gp they're trying to charge a £10 cancellation fee. At least Donnington refunding full amount for tickets purchased.
Donny may well have 'officially' pulled out early in a shrewd move to force Dorna to approach them directly to host it. Silverstone already threw their Toys out of the Pram at losing it in the first place so don't assume they'll just get it back by default. Donny Directors may have pulled off a Master Stroke imho
Like most things in wales I'm sure the British government will as ever bail them out if they do I'm putting in for a free track day as hefty tax pAyer although they want to go it alone if so they can pay for it .
It never made any sense to me to sign up for a deal when the circuit hasn't even been started then to move it somewhere else while construction goes on. Silverstone must have done something really wrong! I've always loved it there.
Silverstone is a great track - for cars. Donny or Brands are far better for Moto GP and bikes in general.
British MotoGP: Silverstone regains British MotoGP until 2016 The British MotoGP will remain at Silverstone for the next two seasons following the collapse of a deal between Donington Park and prospective event holders, the Circuit of Wales. Silverstone, which has hosted the event since 2010, looked set to lose MotoGP after the Circuit of Wales clinched a long-term contract with Dorna from 2015. Since the Welsh venue is yet to start construction of its own track, the Circuit of Wales then reached an agreement with Donington Park for this year's round. However that partnership turned sour over funding and contractual issues, with a split announced between the two parties. As the only other venue capable of holding such an event, Silverstone has duly secured a renewed deal that will not only see it host the race in 2015, but also in 2016. That timeline means the Circuit of Wales has postponed its planned MotoGP debut by one season. The company is currently preparing for a public inquiry over the de-registering of common land located within the proposed 830-acre motorsport complex, which it hopes will mark the final stage of the planning process. “A lot of work has been done over recent years to ensure MotoGP fans enjoy what Silverstone has to offer and it was devastating for the venue to lose the event last autumn,” said managing director Patrick Allen. “I welcomed the opportunity to meet with both Dorna and the Circuit of Wales recently so that we could try and find a way to keep MotoGP in the UK and racing at Silverstone.
