I do wonder how VW get away with the indicators in the centre of the brake light, whilst these are an MOT fail.
A policeman arguing with a guy on the side of the road about what he has done to his/her bike is one thing, your defence will be on what you have fitted, the same policemans argument with whats made by a manufacture who is governed by european law is another matter..lol The easy way to look at ANY mod that may conflict with the law is easy, IF its NOT standard then "they" could question its legality.! Also just coz it has a valid MOT does not mean its legal for use on the UK roads.
Thanks for pics and replys.. I have a mot coming up in April so i think I'll hold fire and give it some more thought, seems like May be more hassle than it's worth
An interesting day chatting to two of my mates who don't know each other and both do MOTs for bike workshops, one failed a customer of mines MOT (he brought up the subject today) for having an intergrated rear light, I asked the other mate and he said he'd fail it too as part of the light goes out when the signal is activated, he said that its a no question fail! Also my customer was telling me how the same tester also failed his bike for no pillion footpegs, an age old requirement that says if you have a pillion seat the bike should be fitted with rear footpegs! Not heard that for years but seems it's now on the agenda again!
my bike went through the MOT today.. I know the tester only through biking stuff so not a mate by any means. He was down doing his MOT refresher course for bikes last week in Glasgow, and said that the single unit indicator / brake lights are a fail because of the indicator spacing.. however he would turn a blind eye if required because its a stupid rule. He passed mine with my really small plate on her (its about 3"x6") etc.. guess its all down to your MOT tester to be honest, although they should fail it.
