They really don't make this easy do they? Getting pretty fed up with this exhaust that I'm considering selling it on... I thought would install the baffle tonight and it seems I've got to drill the recess in the can to put the screw in... Is this right? It's bad enough they have designed the can so the bung / screw can drop down the sleeve, the bung being on the back of the exhaust so reaching the hole is difficult due to how close the can is to the swing arm but not making a hole for the baffle screw is ridiculous! Looks like the exhaust has to come off to do a simple task!
I didn't need to drill mine, it is cut already but not fully. Put a drill bit in and tap it and your see it bend out a bit from the inside. Then a pair of long nose pliers from the inside work it bending it back and forth it will come away. The fun starts putting the baffle in, needed to sand mine down so it would go in far enough so the holes lined up!!!! Was no where near!!!!!
Try a longer bolt with two nuts locked together say a 1/3rd up the thread so you have something to hold as you get the bolt started in the thread if you know what I mean. Was going to that next time as I fished the bolt out last time I fitted the baffle.
Tried that and now have half a hole ... I'm going to remove it and drill it properly which should avoid the issues with the baffle not fitting correctly.
Exactly as Womble did, only thing was I ended up with a burr on the inside so the baffle wouldn't go in so had to do some awkward filing. Then same as Repsol, used a long bolt with nuts to do the tightening against to secure the baffle. I only put the baffle in for MOT time, rest of the time I'm mr popular with the neighbours
it takes only a few mins to remove the exhaust and easy to do. I just remove the can and do it that way. Mine's only in for TD's or MOT time. I've spend ages trying to install the baffle when the exhaust on on so much better just to remove the whole thing
I have the same exhaust can on mine but Ive never considered putting the baffle in, is it a track decibel issue?
I've Yoshi R-77 and never considered fitting baffle either. Somehow, it always passed the MOT (?) and never breached the noise levels during TD. As for the latter I was bit concerned the first time, but it passed with 102db as far as I remember...
Took the exhaust off today to sort the hole out properly for the baffle. Took a while to smooth it all off with a file ... But even so it's a really bloody tight fit! Not impressed at all so I've left it out
Told you ! I thought I had the wrong baffle. Sanded mine down to fit nice and easy, waste of time never bloody use it........
