Has anybody removed there rear pillion peg most bikes it's a simple 10 min job but on looking at removing them from my 08 blade it looks a tad more tricky...
Very tricky. Back end has to come apart. There are notes and pictures somewhere on this forum, on how to do. I had my local Honda shop do it. Apparently, it is a 2 (ish) hour job.
It's an easy job but you need to keep at it and watch what you're doing. I posted something on the forum when I did but cannot find it?
Have PDF copy of workshop manual that I may be able to email ( depends on size ) if you forward an address?
Rear plastics off, undertray out, loosen all the subframe bolts, split the rear subframe by removing the rear bolt holding both halves together, remove 3 small screws 1 of which is under the fuse box and holds on the curved plastic in front of the undertray, loosen the subby bolts below the tank right off on one side then push up the front under tray so you can get to the hanger bolts. Tighten up the front of the subby then do the same to the other side. 2 hours bout right.
2 hours on a bad day and an hour if you're handy with the spanners, best way is to split the subframe!
Easily done in a couple of hours, lots of threads on here about removal. Defiantly worth the swearing and effort
I've done mine recently, and I'm a complete mechanical retard - so definitely something you could do yourself
It's a bit savage, but worth it. Good way to see how the subframe and some wiring is assembled. Surprising how much you can bend the plastics too without them cracking. This is a good video to get you 80% of the way to strip the rear end:
I removed the pegs from my 2010 then sold it a week later so had to put them back on! Am now waiting for the warmer longer days to remove them from my 14. Anyone know if it's just the same method etc as taking them off the earlier bikes?
I am not the best with a set of spanners, but done it in about 3 hours. got a mate to torque everthing up, and as others have said end result is a much better look
