I have a 'rattle' coming from the upper front end, it's always been there on initial pickup so for example when exiting a roundabout at low revs until the motor picks up. I think it's coming from the area around the air box or air intakes but it's very difficult to listen properly when riding. Has anyone else experienced this (or similar) and if so, did you find out what it was? It doesn't sound metallic necessarily and I'm confident it's nothing to worry about but it's one of those minor annoyances that I have been telling myself all winter I'll investigate before the summer.
Get exactly the same noise on my 2014 when I get on the power from lower revs, always done it, I reason that it has a 3 year warranty, so with the mileage I crunch, if its going to let go, then it will do it under warranty, so no concerns for me tbh.
I think I have a similar thing too - seems to do it more if accelerating hard rather than rolling on gently, and only at low revs. I initially thought pinking but was already running V-Power so doubtful it is that. And the bike has always done it, both pre and post PCV (and different exhaust) fitment. Perhaps a case of "they all do that sir"...
I have the exact same thing on my RA9. Just done 15k. Only notice it under load (not just revving with the clutch pulled in).
I doubt it is related but my motor is in bits at the moment as I am doing a plug change, and, one thing I did notice was a load of grit in the bottom of the air box as I was stripping it out. I doubt very much it'll solve the problem but it would be nice if it did. Time will tell...
Mine certainly does. Usually in 2nd when accelerating hard from about 30mph... Roll the throttle slowly and it's fine. But if you suddenly jam it to almost full then you get a little rattle. Fuel doesn't change it, H
