Been going through some of the go pro footage from round 3 at donington. Trying to see where I can improve, gain time. My biggest problem is on the brakes. Any help welcome.......within reason:D

Not watched it mate but will do, but 1st thing I'll say is aggression....

You grew all weekend in terms of it, and it showed....

Great style on the bike, looked like great lines and smooth and fast out of corners.... But looked a little 'easy' into corners....

But look how those times dropped. Was mega.

Just remember, it isn't track day perfect lap time mode got all day, it's dog eat dog so need to get the hammer down and close the door on the feckers.... They won't give you an inch!!

Clearly ride the bike well enough, just don't get swallowed up by em at the start etc

Yeah good point. It's weird, once everyone slotted into position after a lap then I'd start pushing myself.

Stuff to work on for brands!

Its difficult for someone like myself to give constructive feedback when I've never raced mate but what Jimbo says sounds like great advice....

That's because you are in track day mode...

It's ok, I'll get em next lap....

But by then it's too late.

Took me a few rounds to realise mate.... But then, took that approach at donny and didn't end well ha ha

Just watched it, that's really good riding imo. Look way more in control than guys around you pushing it...

Only thing I could say (really no expert) is you seem to tip in a little earlier than others around you...

But that's trying to pick holes.

    Mines easy. "Stay on" ha

It's so easy to say when it all feels so fast when ur doing it. When u look after u think course I could do that better.
U ride like me lol. ,,,, U can brake later.a Gixxer come past u in the last corner even tho u had better drive down that straight u could have held him out and took the inside line cause u had it. Also looks like u could get to 5th comin to Melbourne. I can say that but im not riding it only u know if the front can be pushed harder on the brakes.
I tried goin one more gear up and it got me extra speed I wasn't carrying in the lower gear. It felt smoother and was faster. Sort of did that cause i was scared and didn't no where I was goin lol. Could work for u ?
    U start well tho.

I know nothing about track day racing, but I would ask how many times you had been round that track previously to that day? To me, a total outsider it looked like you ride really well, but just didn't know the track as well as the others as they knew where to brake later and tip in later. In my humble, less informed opinion, it just looks like you need to ride the track more and you would be doing even better than you are, which I thought was really good. Well done :)

Ok so I'll try tipping it in later and try braking later.

Scott- I didn't realise how much I was losing out on the brakes til I watched the videos back! Do you mean getting into 5th on the back straight? Because some laps I was but I was struggling to get it into 4th gear. Wasting time a bit.

Steve- Donington is one of my local tracks lol I havnt been there since last October. The last forum track day think. More track time the better! I'll get booked on for more days there.

In a nutshell James be more aggressive as I have said and a few others you ride the bike well and the way your times dropped at Donny showed that ;),when I first started racing I went in to trackday mode and if I got behind another rider similar pace probably would happily stay there in racing you can't do that if you want to improve you need to watch the bloke in front you would normally happily follow and see where you are stronger then attack even show him a wheel as that can put riders off If it means you stand a rider up that's all part of racing as they would do it to you given half a chance .;)

Later breaking As well it's also something I also need to improve on and is agreat way to pass cookie is very good at this you only had to watch him coming down into the Melbourne loop to see how good he is .

Going fast on a trackday is easy compared to racing as on A TD You don't have 30+ racers who will do anything to get past:eek: you keep improving like you are and it will come to you just don't rush it or you start crashing and breaking bones .

That's a big gap in time for track days, I get rusty on the road from one weekend to the next, lol. ;)

I think you know the answer, as many track days as you possibly can, lol :D You will just get faster and faster

The videos made for great viewing, so thanks for that.

Very nice video mate. A bit busy in the corners with all the traffic around you but a bit smooth with the gears and the braking will do the trick. Great!
