Removing lower fairing to do an oil change both the l/hand bolts came out fine but the front r/hand seems to be just turning. Does it have a captive nut on? Its in garage at the moment soaking in wd40. Any advice appreciated.
It will be the little rubber grommet just turning, Its the same rubber things as the screen is held on by. If someone has done them up to tight the whole thing just turns in the bracket. I used some thin molegrips and got mine out but its a lot of messing around.
They are a pain in the ass, You have to get hold of the rubber, or better the brass ferrule that's captive inside with something, I found water pump pliers did the trick. take the screw out and replace with same. But lather it in Copper Grease. Mike. There called Well Nuts. Or F*&^*"$^..... B%^&*($. .........Until you get them out.
As above. When you put the fairing back on; replace the grommets with new ones from Honda. They are not expensive.
Thanx for the info been soaking all day in wd whilst I on the other hand hace been soaking in becks & jd. Will sort it tomorrow
Well that turned out to be a bleedin nightmare. When I put it back together have used a rubber washer and a captive nut that i can quite easilt get a ring spanner over
In the end of the day, you can change the oil without removing the fairings ;-) But sooner or later you will have to replace to bloody grommets anyway.
