Hi all I am new to forums got my 2010 blade in may.

I just been to Austria and decided when I got home to give it a thorough clean after using a whole tin of chain lube on it due to thunderstorms etc.

I am having a problem as to take the front sprocket cover off I removed the gear linkage. Easy enough a punch point to line up and I took photos so I wouldn't forget a doddle. Cleaned it all put it all back together taking care to line it all up. Tightened the top bolt tried gearbox now I only have nuetral to 4th. It won't stay in 1st. I did move the bike to clean the chain could this of caused a problem? Please help I can't see what I have done but undo 1 bolt

Can anyone help? Surely I haven't broke the gearbox?!

I unscrewed the bolt where the linkage meets the toothed shaft back into the gearbox. Unscrewed the bolt slid it off. Moved the linkage to one side cleaned sprocket and installed it back lining up the punch mark and tightened the bolt to the shaft. Is there anyway this has hurt the internals it slid off and on so easy

Sounds like you've done everything correctly,I've had the shift rod off loads of times for cleaning and fitting quickshifter and never had any problems.

No guys I appreciate you getting back to me. What I did was a complete school boy error. Believe it or not put it on the paddock stand rocked the rear wheel to see if I can hear any grinding or abnormalities through the gears and it went through the box. I suppose it was because the bike was not running or something or it just needed rocking for the gears to engage properly. I suppose because I tried it without the engine running.

I assumed it would slip off and on and it did. It was just me being overcautios and trying the gearbox before I started it. All seems fine now. Il start it tomorrow and tell you if it fully works. Just had a massive panic that I pushed off the little metal plate in the gearbox but it came off and on so freely. Thanks for your replies though guys
