had a fantastic day playing with shotguns today! Had so much fun I'm considering looking into getting my own stuff and doing more often. Will go with these lads a few more times first and see if I still like it. Anyone else into shooting?
Six mile bottom is a very good proving ground for clay shooting and the gaffer of it all owns the pub too. As for cannon of choice, go for a Beretta silver pigeon. alternatively, get into high powered air arms of .22 cal long rifles for some serious target practice. (beware you'll need 100acre of land as a backdrop before being considered by your local constabulary) I'm led to believe the boys in blue are tightening up on issue of shotgun licences and firearms certificates.. And if you really get the bug it'll be a dearer hobby than bikes. I know of a bloke who spends upwards of 20k a year on game shooting. Crazy...
Martin, when I read the thread title and that it was you that started it I was pretty scared to actually open the thread n read it! Remember what has been seen can never be unseen!
Where my wife keeps her horses they are raising 8000 peasants for release and shooting. I thought hmm let's ask the game keeper how much they charge for a days shooting.. Might be an interesting day out. Guess how much?
That's only the start! The bloke has assured me that you'll need everything Camo....including phone case/underpants etc so the critters can't spot you And one of these.... Oh....and one of these....
My Uncle got me into shooting when I was about 10. Tin cans lined up on a five bar gate sot down with a 2.2 air rifle. Moved onto a 4:10 then12 bore clay pigeon shooting. Last gun I shot was an MP5, a 9mm sub machine gun. That was wicked. Not been shooting for a few years now tho excellent fun.
Had my first play with the clays today, found out I'm shit with a shot gun.......so that's that finished then!
Did some at Gleneagles a couple of times with work. Really enjoyed it too, and was top scorer both times. Though I did used to be in the ATC and hold ATC/RAF Marksman awards. Wouldn't do hunting, as I abhor trophy hunting of any sort. But the old clay pigeon stuff is great. The rabbit was a hard one where it gets fired along the ground tho. And the multiples is bloody tricky too. Think we are going again in September too.
