Hi all, this looks like a friendly & useful place so i figured I'd sign up. a bit about me, I'm from sunny Scotland & I picked up a 2011 blade back in february. So far I've covered about 3.5k miles on it including an 1100mile/4day trip around this amazing country. the bike was a shock to the system, considering I spent 8 years on a cbr600rr, which had me wondering if I'd made the right choice given how I like to ride. although a few months of adjustment & I'm very happy with it. bike history: various 125's in my teens Kawasaki GPZ500 - 1st big bike after passing my test - sold Suzuki SV400 - fun little bike & the only one in the country at the time - traded Yamaha R6 - had it 3 months before a bus pulled out on me & wrecked it Honda CBR600RR - my pride & joy for 8 years - recently sold (begrudgingly) Honda CBR1000RR - current I lived in the Leeds area for 6 years so a lot of my riding was done around the lake district, snake pass etc. During that time I got in a few trackdays since they were so close, there's not much track choice in Scotland, although I did do Knockhill last year. Since moving back home, we've put in a lot of miles as the roads are great & right on my doorstep. I've also done 2 big trips around the country, both were fantastic! Hope the intro isn't too long, here's the bike
Cheers guys. It's really easy to rack up the miles here, we tend to hit 2-300 miles every run. My brother rides a zzr1400 & the Mrs has an er6 & we're out every weekend we can manage, no low mileage bikes in our group. There's too many nice places in Scotland to not try to see it all
Hi and welcome. are you sure its Scotland UK you live in 'cause it doesn't sound like the Scotland I live in. Enjoy the forum. Have you marked yorself on the map?
Yes mate, definitely Scotland UK. Where are you from? Outside the cities this is an amazing country to ride in, don't you think? I haven't marked the map yet but I will do
Nice, we head that way quite often, usually with a wee stop at the "rest and be thankful" before heading for Oban. I spend most of my time in the south west, down Dumfries way
My usual lap is the jumps to Arrochar the swoops to Inverary the twisties to Dalmally and the curves to the Green Welly then back I can just make it on a tank full.
Thanks mate. It's a cracking bike. Took a bit of getting used to with all the extra torque & power though
That's a good run, there's always loads of bikes at the welly. The jumps at arrochar are great fun, have they fixed the potholes yet? Some of them would swallow a car!
cheers mate. you're right about that, I'm just trying to sort out some of the pics from our trip but my photobucket is being a P.I.T.A
Welcome I'm very envious of you having such an amazing place right on your doorstep, I love Scotland, but hate the hours and hours of crap motorway between Canterbury and the good stuff up north. I've not been up on the bike yet, but at some point I will have to brave the M1 and do so.
