My little brother had a blowout from an old repair by the previous owner on his bike not long after he bought it from someone. He was lucky he wasn’t on much of a bend when it happened.

Everyone will have a different view on this but purely down to that experience I would always opt to buy another tire.

If it's a Mitchlen then yes they don't use steel bands that are compromised when drilling the hole for the plug, any other make and it's a defo no, be safe!!

I've ran with repairs on my 600 & they held fine, can't say if the extra power of the 1000 would be too much stress on a repaired tyre though.

I would probably repair it if funds were tight, but tyres can be had for cheap these days. I use tyreleader.co.uk a lot.

edit: all my repairs were done on michelins so maybe that's the reason they held

The problem is that the steel bands are very close together on a performance tyre and the drill will compromise the integrity as it passes through, it is also noteworthy that water will get in and rust the damaged band. It's up to the individual but I wonder how you can enjoy your ride knowing that your tyre Has been compromised, stay safe and change it!

Depends on where abouts on the tyre the puncture is. I had a nail in the centre of mine, had it repaired. Now done over 3000 miles and don't give it a second thought. If it's within an inch of the edge it can't be repaired.
